Lower amount of pictures this month so far. Requirements a bit tougher, or are people holding out for month's end? ;) Reply #81. Feb 17 23, 1:54 PM |

Submitted my qualifying quiz today. I'd say tougher than last month to find something I wanted to write about! Reply #82. Feb 17 23, 2:13 PM |

Time. Finding Time Last month I was able to write two quizzes to meet all three requirements albeit photos quizzes take that much longer. This month I need to write three, one being by necessity a 15 Qn quiz. I have found three interesting topics, two somewhat out of my comfort zone bet I enjoy completing quizzes beyond my grasp as it means intensive research. There were plenty of topics to pick from and it would be easy to write a 'knock-off' quiz - one written quickly to meet a specification but early in my quiz-writing journey I wrote a couple of these and I am not proud of them. I have started all three and finished none. I can foresee a mad scramble towards the end of the month. But there is no way this opportunity will allowed to slip away. Reply #83. Feb 17 23, 2:31 PM |

Hope you will manage to complete all three quizzes, Nick! It is true that this month - unlike in January - it was much harder to write a quiz that could qualify for two of the requirements at the same time. Thankfully I found a great idea for a 15-question quiz while browsing Author Challenge titles, because I was on the verge of giving up on the frame :D. Reply #84. Feb 17 23, 2:36 PM |

I managed to get a framed picture I think it was earlier this week, but I found the requirements definitely harder. Still, it pushed me to get my "Hobbies" minibadge, so I'm not complaining! Some easy requirements for next month would be great, though. ;P Reply #85. Feb 17 23, 4:12 PM |

I'm looking forward to March. This month I've cleaned out my works in progress for the most part, so I've got a (practically) clean slate with which to start March's painting templates! Reply #86. Feb 24 23, 12:19 PM |

This month's requirements were definitely trickier than the last month. Reply #87. Feb 24 23, 12:33 PM |

I really thought I wouldn't get the frame, but a late inspiration as I was finishing off the first quiz for 2 of the 3 requirements makes me think I will get there. I only need some time tomorrow to get it written, since the month will end before next weekend arrives! Much as I love the classical works we are getting, I hope some more contemporary stuff arrives, too. I suppose there are limits due to copyright, of course. Reply #88. Feb 25 23, 1:13 AM |

To my understanding we will be hitting a number of styles. Reply #89. Feb 25 23, 1:25 AM |

The frames are starting to crop up more and more. I'm excited to spend next weekend sorting out what requirements come up for March. Reply #90. Feb 25 23, 12:39 PM |

A part of me sensed an Author Challenge requirement coming up. Reply #91. Mar 01 23, 12:40 AM |

I wondered that too. I was considering choosing one earlier this week, and then decided to wait, just in case. Reply #92. Mar 01 23, 1:46 AM |

And I see that there are some recent postings of relatively flexible titles, unlike some that are really clever, but I cannot for the life of me think what quiz they might fit! Reply #93. Mar 01 23, 1:48 AM |

Good luck to everyone in March! I think I'll go take a look at the Author's Challenge section and see if any titles inspire me. Reply #94. Mar 01 23, 1:52 AM |

Definitely easier than the February round, and some nice Geography topics to boot :D! Now time to look for a nice Author Challenge title! Reply #96. Mar 01 23, 1:35 PM |

Looks like I jumped the gun a bit. My quiz that went online today (Things People Shout Out) was started in February, but would have qualified for two of the requirements. :( Reply #97. Mar 01 23, 3:28 PM |

I got my frame yesterday. I already had the quiz written for a while but I had a hard time finding time to submit it since I've been so wrapped up with my TRIC quizzes! But this month's requirements were pretty fun. Reply #98. Mar 11 23, 4:24 PM |

So, it appears that I lost my frame after one of my qualifying quizzes was recategorized after the fact. My 'Bodies of Water's quiz was (rightfully) changed to 'Mediterranean Sea.' So, I have a couple of questions. 1) Is there a point when the picture and/or frame are locked in? It would suck to have them disappear on you a year down the road when an editor makes a category adjustment. 2) I only discovered this by chance when I went to admire my gallery. In future, could the editor who makes a change like this please notify the author that it has occurred? Thankfully, I have plenty of time to write a new quiz and reclaim the frame, but I might not have noticed at all, and lost the opportunity. 3) Perhaps put a statement somewhere in the instructions about this possibility? I know it is mentioned that the quiz cannot be in a subcategory (at least for this month's qualifier for req #1), but it doesn't say anything about retroactive changes after the frame has been awarded. RE: 2) I only discovered this by chance when I went to admire my gallery. In future, could the editor who makes a change like this please notify the author that it has occurred? Thankfully, I have plenty of time to write a new quiz and reclaim the frame, but I might not have noticed at all, and lost the opportunity. Editors adjust categories all the time, and it is rare to contact an author about it. If the exact category matters, you need to state that explicitly in the message to the editors box. Don't just assume that saying it is for a particular challenge means they will know this - they may not be familiar with that particular challenge. (This is especially true for the ones with changing requirements, like TRIC and the Author Gallery.) I recently edited a quiz that asked if it could please stay in the category of submission, and had to reply that it needed major changes to stay there (essentially changing the nature of the quiz!), but could go straight online in the proper category. The author chose to write a new quiz for the challenge. Had they not included that message, I would simply have moved it. Reply #100. Mar 13 23, 11:30 AM |
