Contrary to popular belief the Witch of Endor was not a Star Wars character but rather an advisor to King Saul in the Bible to help converse with the deceased judge Samuel(1 Samuel 28). Interestingly, the origin of the word Endor is a circular well which was probably used to communicate with the dead since the deceased were thought to reside below the ground. It is rather interesting that Saul had rid the land of magicians and needed to go in disguise to talk the the witch of Endor.
