We tried gateways. We tried healing. We tried friends, time and balance. And yet, somehow, the world seems to keep slipping in the wrong direction.

Let's try a different approach for 2026: Let's pick a specific goal - peace - and the necessary imagination to make it happen.

Please remember this is manually awarded - it may say "instantaneous" on the box, but we need to check submissions by hand so it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on when someone has the time.

A new challenge has been added: Cosmic Balance

Awarded to a player who completes the necessary number of quizzes and crosswords from 2025's 'In the Balance' Limited Edition authoring challenge

We've been here before, right? We start off a new year on the hopes it'll turn out better for this world than the last one and all we get is the opposite.

Something is definitely well out of balance here and we need you to help restore it. We already did a lot of the hard work: We picked two fitting songs, namely these two:

The Times, They Are A-Changin'
Hope for the Future

Then we plucked them apart word by word to make quiz and crossword titles and wrote all those quizzes and crosswords. Now comes the easy part for you as a player - and the hard part for the community: We need a whole lot of people - preferably a few million, but given our active membership total, we'll settle for about a thousand - to diligently play them and thus help restore the Cosmic Balance. We'll even throw in some prestige... 8 of it to be exact, because that digit so nicely resembles the infinity symbol if you look at it from the side.

Who's the Expert update: there is nothing more frustrating than losing out because not enough players played in your division.

We have modified the game to award a win if you beat at least one other player. Good luck!

A new challenge has been added: Dust It Off

Awarded to a player who authors 3 or more 'Old is New' Quizzes

25 years is a long time to live in a very big home... castle... Quizzyland. So it should not be too surprising that some of those rooms have collected dust.

Lots of dust.

In fact, at least eight years of dust.

That's where you come in. Grab your authoring mop and bucket and dust off one of those old subcategories by adding a shiny new quiz to it. Shazam, Old Is New!.

Then move to the next one. And the third. And you're done. Unless, of course, you want some higher tiers in which case, you might as well open a facility management company and hire a few extra cleaners, because, you see, we have so many rooms...

Oh, here's the list of places in urgent need of cleaning. Don't worry about running out, we'll add more.

Jun 23 2025: New Feature Added

New tools have been discovered for exploration point seekers!

The more exploration points you find, the more difficult additional ones are to obtain. For players with very large numbers of exploration points it has become very difficult to find them.

Fortunately, three new perks have been added: Explorer's Map, Compass, and Telescope, located at ranks Grand Visionary [20c], Exalted Prophet [22d], and Supreme Oracle [23e].

Each of these perks make it easier for you to discover new exploration points, somewhat offsetting some of that difficulty. Enjoy!

Apr 17 2025: Challenge Achievement: Knockout News

A new challenge has been added: Achievement: Knockout

Awarded to a player who scores at least 1750 points in a knockout match

There are two wins to win a fight - one is to have a weak opponent. But we are not talking about that here. We are talking about winning by being strong. Or, in fact, losing is also okay for this achievement, as long as you put up a good fight.

What you need to do: Sign up for our weekly knockout tournament and give it your best shot. All you need to do is score 1750 or higher. Even if you lose the round, you'll still win this badge. Oh, for the beginning, we won't even look at which round you will do this in. Expect that to change at some point, of course...

Note: You can gain multiple tiers of this in one KO tournament, but only one per game.

Is this a trend? Every time we do one of these authoring challenges meant to promote hope and a better future, things... well, don't improve. 2024 was no exception here.

Which just means we need to try harder. We need more players to write inspiring quizzes and more to play them. For the first part, you could head to the current year's limited edition author challenge, but before (or after) you do so, why not take your time to play these gems created from two inspiring songs in 2024?

A new challenge has been added: 25 Quizzical Years

Awarded to a player who completes the insanely huge number of quizzes and crosswords that are part of this ultimate scavenger

Quick Trivia question: What do Youtube, Facebook, World of Warcraft, Twitter/X, Instagram and Spotify have in common?

( ) All of them are banned in the European Union
( ) All of them have experienced at least one bankruptcy
( ) All of them are owned by the US Government
( ) All of them have been around for less time than funtrivia.com

If you picked the last option, congratulations. Because on March 4, 2025, the current incarnation of funtrivia.com celebrated its 25th anniversary.

(Actually, the site itself is a bit older than that, but March 4, 2000 marks the beginning of the current database and, most importantly, the addition of playable quizzes to the site.)

And we'll celebrate this 25th anniversary in style: We have picked the 25 most versatile quiz authors - those who have written several quizzes in all 20 categories - and asked them to choose one of their quizzes in each category for a scavenger. If you do the math, that's a nice 500 quizzes - a mere appetizer given the total count of over 150,000 online quizzes. But you get to play those now. If you want this badge, that is.

So, 25 quizzes from each category. 20 from each of the 25 most versatile authors. That should have a few really easy ones and a few stumpers for everyone.

In addition, we've also picked the 25 most prolific crossword authors and chose one crossword from each - spanning all 20 categories in total as well.

Of course if you've been around for a significant portion of those 25 years, you may already have played a lot of what is on these lists. That's good for you, because it will make this gargantuan scavenger a bit more manageable. We hope, however, that no one has already played all of it - that would be an anticlimax.

The prestige reward for this challenge is of course tied to the number 25 - maybe just a tad more than what it is worth, but it's a birthday gift to all of you who have kept the site alive for so long! Of course if you want to really be smart, you can take home even more than those 25: Binge quizzes for a day and knock out another Endurance tier, do the quizzes one category at a time and nab some 24 Hours tiers, just work on the next level of Quizzer or Quiz Rater... lots of options.

Oh, take your time. This is not a limited edition - it's a celebration of longevity. So you can still complete it next month, next year or - well, however long FunTrivia will be around. Enjoy the ride!
