Apparantly the 1969 conflict between Honduras and El Salvador,
The last dogfights between piston-engine, propeller-driven airplanes weren't fought in the skies over Germany in the 1940s or even Korea in the 1950s. They occurred in Central America in 1969, and all of the combatants were flying U.S.-built Corsairs and Mustangs.
The 1969 war between Honduras and El Salvador lasted only 100 hours but was fought rigorously by both sides. It is sometimes called "The Football War" because it was sparked by a soccer riot between fans of the two countries' national teams during the 1970 World Cup Qualifier. But the war was not about soccer.
Some years earlier, Honduras had passed a land reform law that expelled thousands of Salvadorians from the country leaving behind their land that was subsequently given to Hondurans. The tensions created by the law culminated during the soccer matches between the two nations in June 1969. On 27 June 1969, El Salvador dissolved all diplomatic ties with Honduras stating that the neighboring country has "done nothing to prevent murder, oppression, rape, plundering and the mass expulsion of Salvadorans".
On 14 July 1969, Honduras invaded El Salvador. El Salvador fought back and soon occupied large parts of Honduras. The Organization of American States (OAS) put pressure on both sides and negotiated a cease fire. 3000 people died in only five days of war.
