Is Tweety a boy or a girl?

Judging from the looks of the charming bird, some might feel that it is female. However, Granny always addresses her pets (consisting of Sylvester, Hector and Tweety) boys. You can argue that 'boys' might just be a generalised term like 'guys' or 'dudes' but the answer we all wanna know is clearly seen in a cartoon when Tweety Bird gets attracted to a female bird which was actually Sylvester's painted finger.

There has been (and still is) much talk about Tweety's gender. Wikipedia clearly states that Tweety is male without giving a conclusive explanation.

Tweety is male although his ambiguity was played with. For example, in the cartoon "Snow Business", when Granny entered a room containing Tweety and Sylvester she said: "Here I am, boys!", whereas a 1952 cartoon was entitled "Ain't She Tweet".

In the episode "Bad Old Putty Tat" (released 1949) Sylvester makes a trap for Tweety by painting his finger yellow and putting a tiny hood on it. Tweety shows the stereotypical behaviour of a young male (at least what was considered stereotypical in 1949) when he approaches the supposed female bird.
