Subject: Globetrot Trivia 6

Have you renewed your passport lately?

With travel back in action, we're bring back our Globetrot Trivia Challenges. We'll travel to fifteen different locations and, using those sites as inspiration, provide quizzes to suit. This adventure around Earth will bring us to new and exciting destinations, most of which will be brand-new to the Globetrot Trivia roster.

A destination will be posted here on this thread. Sometimes that destination will be very specific and sometimes it will be very vague, but either way, we’ll need to have two quizzes queued up before we move on to the next location. When those quizzes are queued, the next one will show. You can, of course, write for any listed destination, even if we move on from it, until the challenge is closed.

So if we use an example: ‘The Sphinx, Egypt'. This means we need to queue two quizzes— anyone can submit them— before we continue on. The quizzes can be about the landmark or about riddles or about the Giza Plateau or on and on and on. As long as you can justifiably link the quiz's subject matter/content to the locations, it’s good! I would like to encourage authors to think outside the box. Use these prompts as an opportunity to spread yourself to parts of the site you may never have thought of before. Since players will be looking at these quizzes from a different angle in the future, it will be very helpful to avoid repetition!

Once we make our trip around the world, we’ll return to our starting location in some way. Last time, we started in Canada and ended the route in Canada again. This time, we're off to China.

All you need to do is post when your quiz is submitted, and when there’s two we’ll move along. The quiz doesn't even need to be online yet! I'll snag it from the queue and add it to the list here.

Oh yeah-- and as noted in the past, all quizzes submitted for the Globetrot challenges will play a strong part in a future game for the site. The more we see, the better it is!

Safe travels!

It means we're off to do some sightseeing in Budapest for our next stop! Marking the half-way point in this trip around the globe, we're sending ourselves to the Fisherman's Bastion, a monument and panoramic lookout found atop the city. Nestled into the Buda Castle complex, it's an ornate and unique spot that's bound to give a spark of inspiration going into some new quizzes.

I'm hoping my anatomy of a fish quiz might work for fisherman's bastion. link https://www.funtrivia.com/quiz/animals/do-fish-really-have-fingers-414391.html

It works, and it allows us to fly off to a new country a bit more to the northwest. Touch down in Berlin and take a tour along the remains of The Berlin Wall, our ninth destination. Now a reminder of the struggles of World War II and the years to follow, this barricade still stands in spots that once separated East and West Berlin.

I wrote this quiz expressly for this challenge, so that we can get things moving again: link https://www.funtrivia.com/quiz/world/within-these-walls-416453.html

Stop 8 is at the top of my "To Write" list, but each month's paintings keep pushing it back down again. If I actually had the inspiration, it might feel more pressing, but I do look at the entry and consider what I might do regularly.

I've just written this label quiz about locations of German cities (one of which is Berlin) if it would work for those to get things moving again

We're staying in Berlin for the next stop, specifically heading along the wall to Checkpoint Charlie, a key landmark of Cold War Germany. Now a museum memorializing the events that occurred in a divided Berlin, the site is a tourist destination. That said, it was at one time at the epicentre of social and political strife, and quizzes using it as inspiration might tap into that history.

It's off to Scandinavia now as our itinerary tracks northwest to rural Sweden. Our next stop is quite specific: we're stopping in the town of Älmhult to visit the IKEA Headquarters. Although IKEA is now an international brand, its roots as an innately Swedish entity contribute to an aesthetic that the nation can't shake (and why would they want to?). Clean, straight-forward, sometimes named a bit silly for foreigners. And who can resist Swedish meatballs?

Perhaps your quizzes here will be about Swedish creations. Perhaps they'll be about form, function, and furniture. Or perhaps they'll be about nationally-identified brands. The choice is yours.

I've already written a quiz about the trauma of assembling flat-pack furniture, so will need to look outside the store!

Turns out Swedish art and design includes a lot more than IKEA.

But IKEA is a thing. I don't expect a second quiz by the same person to push ahead, but it fits nicely in the list, if that works.

I am writing a quiz on furniture throughout the ages, which hopefully will be ready soon. These days I am slower than I used to be, but the quiz will definitely be completed and submitted before too long,
