Doc, you could even present this second puzzle on a coffee-mug shaped grid. Reply #13. Oct 20 22, 12:42 AM |

I’m a CW newbie, I have no idea how to do a shaped grid! Plus I already prepped this one. I’m of course willing to learn if you can provide guidance! I assume you draw the grid within the standard square, and in this case symmetry isn’t necessary. Seems like you would end up with a more American style with multiple crosses? Would be hard to avoid two letter words making the handle of a mug, also. The house idea is a little more straightforward. Reply #14. Oct 20 22, 6:44 AM |

Afraid I'm unable to offer you any guidance pusdoc, although I've compiled a fair number of CW's. Personally, I don't warm to the idea of shaped grids, to me it's a total anathema of crossword creation, and should perhaps come under a quite different category. However, that's just my personal opinion. I agree with your view that it may be necessary to include a number of the dreaded two letter words to provide a meaningful shape. Hopefully others can provide you with the guidance you are seeking? Reply #15. Oct 21 22, 5:13 AM |
