Cyd, it is lovely to get away from the madding crowd, is it not? After all--l'enfer, c'est les autres, n'est-ce pas? Signed, Estelle (not my real name!) Reply #62. Sep 23 10, 4:46 PM |

Thanks for the link,Cyd! Ah,that takes me back to my younger days, when I was a serious drinker. I remember one time,I nearly broke off one of my horns with the head butt! Happy days..........:)) Reply #63. Sep 24 10, 4:09 AM |

Darrgh hoogh janja Maka vring combach stesh ung gow tsh makte Above are the first lines of a well known klingon love song. Roughly translated they read I shall disembowel your entire family And joyously throw their entrails to the dogs See my happiness in destruction Or it might be Arabic. I forget so easily, these days. Returning to Cym's original post however, for business people (in addition to English), it would probably be wise to know mandarin because over a billion people speak it in several asian countries - and spanish because half a billion people speak it worldwide. Reply #67. Oct 03 10, 7:42 PM |

I would also love to improve my French which I learned at school, to improve my German, which I did a crash course in at school and to learn Spanish and Italian because I did Latin at school and that helps. Reply #71. Oct 25 17, 10:10 AM |

I'd like to learn Latin and hope to start doing so next year. It won't be much practical use but will satisfy some intellectual curiosity. Reply #72. Nov 09 17, 3:49 PM |

I want to learn as many as I can. When I was in one of my French classes in college, my professor was from France. She said most people in France will not talk to Americans who don’t at least attempt to speak French even though most know English. She said the reason is they do not like the arrogance of Americans who think the French should speak English because that is what the Americans speak I kinda agree with it. So I feel like if I can learn as many languages as possible I can communicate with everyone know matter what they speak. In fact, I am fluent in ASL because in4th grade I read “The Miracle Worker” in school. I came home told my parents I had to go to the library right away because there was a woman in a book who was Deaf and there was a girl at church as well so there may be more and I had to be able to talk to them. I taught myself and by high school I was fluent. Ironically now I am hard of hearing. Reply #73. Dec 10 21, 9:42 AM |
