I use like both and feel both are important and necessary. I have moved more toward e-books - Kindle than print books lately. Reply #21. Jan 02 12, 8:30 PM |

I love computers for research and games, but unless you have a laptop, they aren't as portable as a book, and the information is already printed out. Books also don't require batteries or a power cord. I much prefer to work a crossword with an erasable pen vs. doing one on a commputer--faster and easier to move around. Reply #22. Both have their place in my life. I always read before I go to sleep and prefer to read an actual book. I use the computer for trivia, emails and general 'mooching' about the net. My daughter has a Kindle, but she does buy the occasional book. She is an avid reader and now has well in excess of 2,000 books, so the Kindle has been well worth it! Reply #23. Mar 05 12, 11:27 AM |

For traveling, the ease of using a Kindle on a plane is worth the price. Books every place else. Reply #24. Mar 12 12, 3:16 PM |

Eventually, books will probably just become a curiosity. Which is sad. All written work will reside on some sort of electronic storage device eventually. Reply #25. Mar 21 12, 5:03 AM |

I love my Kindle (and really didn't think I would), it is just so brilliant for travelling. I love the internet for research, you can get up to date information and not worry if your 1986 encyclopaedia is accurate! Still, nothing beats curling up on the sofa with a book. Lovely. Reply #27. books. You own the book and give it someone else. You cannot with ebooks and you own rights only. Some publishers are able to revoke after a period of time. Ruling was made recently and published in Publishers Weekly Reply #32. Sep 10 12, 12:32 PM |

Both are good for different things. The internet is good for quick searches, but there is nothing like opening a book. You can't tab and jot notes online like you can in a book. (I mean, it's possible, but who would want to?) Reply #33. Sep 21 12, 9:51 AM |

Books are good for stories, and for large amounts of specialized information (ie class materials). The internet is the most efficient way ever created of quick sharing and access to information, and it's showing. Reply #34. Sep 22 12, 9:22 PM |

Nothing will ever substitute the feeling of having a book in your hands, grabbing your pencil and write your notes on it etc. Internet has made things very simple, but what matters is quality or quantity? :) Reply #36. Sep 24 12, 6:06 PM |

As a serious internet junkie, a lot of my friends are surprised that I own so many books, visit the library regularly, and don't own any kind of e-reader. I have occasionally read 'classic' books for free online because of the convenience, but I genuinely love to be able to sit down with a book in my hands and read for hours at a time. That long at a computer is bound to make me nauseated. As far as overall usage instead of just reading, I think the internet is much better for gathering information, connecting with people, and of course, trivia! I'd much rather play quizzes and games here than read trivia questions from a book. Reply #39. Jan 29 13, 3:43 PM |

Well, the fact that you can read books on the internet makes me say the internet is better without question. The internet just has more to offer. Reply #40. Jun 17 13, 5:15 PM |
