Subject: Odd dreams

Do you have odd dreams that you canĀ“t explain? I had one this week. I was talking to my dog. I had the Dog-Human dictionary and with the help of it I told her "p-p-p-p-p", which meant in Doggish: "Look at the stars how bright they are shining":)

It's good to record dreams here because I forget them very quickly, yet some dreams are good enough to inspire a story, and I never forget that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein novel was originally inspired by a dream - so get recording folks! There may be a novel somewhere in your dreams.

I have way too many weird dreams to decide which to write here. When I was a child, I also used to talk so much in my sleep that a waking person could hold a conversation with me, and their words would become part of my dream. In my late teens, I remember several occasions where I got out of bed, got dressed and ready for work, complete with packed lunch, all while deeply asleep. I would wake with my hand on the back door handle, trying to leave, wondering why it wasn't opening (the door was obviously locked at night). This would happen at around 2 or 3 in the morning. I never turned on any lights, so apparently it wasn't dark in my dream, and I managed to find everything without actually being able to see it. On one of these occasions, I even started a nice log fire in our kitchen fireplace before making my sandwiches. In my sleep.
My only explanation for this is that I have a tendency to worry about being late, and maybe my brain was overcompensating.

Interesting. Sleepwalking is a thing isn't it, though pretty rare I think.

Yeah, it's definitely a thing, but I don't know how rare it is. I haven't done it in a long time, but it was very disconcerting when it happened. I'd be fully dressed - boots, coat, bag, everything - and ready to go with no idea how I got there. It was my mum who found me and woke me a couple of times, otherwise who knows, I might have made it out the door as well.

Oh my gosh! That's incredible. I'm glad nothing terrible happened!

I had a freaky dream the other night where the entire city I lived in turned on me and wanted to capture me. They chased me and even got a locksmith to unlock a door I was hiding behind.
On a bright note, I did fly a little! I flew high to avoid some of them and landed on the small roof of a restaurant. It's been a looooong time, too long, since I flew!

When dreams are really threatening it wakes me up. Did it wake you up?

Eventually, but it took a long time. It was intimidating!

I had a weird dream last night. I was at a circus, but it wasn't in a tent. It was at a busy intersection in our downtown shopping district. The acts performed while traffic moved through the intersection. After the circus was over, a group of friends and I took the performers to a favourite local diner for a late night meal. Strange dream. I wonder what a dream interpreter would make of it.

I'd say it shows what a nice person you are! Being friendly and wanting to feed people, even strangers, is a very caring and generous trait.
At a guess, I'd say you heard something on the news, or in a peripheral conversation, about something political or work related being a 'three ring circus', and in your head, you've interpreted this in your dreams as a situation that could be solved if everyone just sat down together like friends and listened to one another with open minds. Sound close?

The three-ring-circus premise is probably a good guess. Since I look on the political scene with a super jaundiced eye these days and regard the whole sorry mess as having gone to you-know-where in the proverbial handbasket, there is no doubt something in what you say.

Dreams fascinate me. My husband, who is autistic, told me the other day that he sometimes dreams just patterns of geometric shapes and colours. Ten years together and I find out new things like that about him all the time. He doesn't think that's something interesting because it's normal to him, so he assumes it's normal for everyone and that I must already know all about dreams where it's "all yellow and blue and there are triangles and lines." He's not physically present in these dreams, nothing is, just the colours and shapes.

How interesting UmberWunFayun. I wonder how that would be interpreted?

When I was a child and I had a fever, I had this dream/hallucination of shapes forming into balls before my eyes and moving towards each other as if to collide before collapsing like paper origami models under pressure as if someone had just crunched them. This happened over and over again and it seemed it went on for hours (all night) but I had probably lost any sense of time, so I don't know how long it was but it happened at night time.

Also as a child when I was given gas at the dentist's, all I remember was seeing this skeleton jumping up and down over and over again against a black background. I've had 5 operations in my life but I do not remember having any dreams. It was loss of consciousness and nothing more until I woke up. I'm glad it was like that.

!!! Mixa, that's quite a sight to see while under gas at the dentist! Were you scared?

Mix, that's really interesting. You seem to remember the details very well considering these were childhood dreams, so they must have had quite an effect. I have no idea what they mean, but I'd love to find out.

Here's my odd dream.
Last night I dreamt I was at my childhood home and I was crossing over the road at night to walk to my sister's place, but at the same time I was Donald Trump, and I knew my security people had told me never to go out without them. I was wondering if they would find out and whether anyone would recognise who I was at night-time.

I realised I never replied to Skyflyerjen. To answer your question. I was not scared or distressed. I had no feelings at all. I was just aware of it.

Have I got a thing about US Presidents? Another dream concerning one... Last night I dreamt I was in a car with Joe Biden and we were heading to a meeting but he was suffering from dementia and not able to follow instructions to get there. I had cold hands and put one on the back of his neck to try and get him to take in the information I was giving him. Eventually I had to take over the wheel and steer the car myself.

I've nothing against Joe Biden, but I've no control over my dreams either.

I had a spectacular dream that made me so happy but I am not posting it here. Once it goes out in public on the Internet, it won't be mine to enjoy anymore.
