Another good one is "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" Mentioning Elton John songs, "Benny and the Jets" was on the radio earlier today. (my opinion: most, if not all, of Elton John's song are really good) Reply #1. Apr 24 12, 8:36 AM |

Not a big Elton fan but if I had to pick one I think I'd go for " Funeral for a Friend " in saying this I did see him in concert at the Glasgow Greens Playhouse roundabout the early 70's I think it was. Reply #2. Apr 24 12, 9:03 AM |

Difficult to answer... I don't particularly like much of his later compositions but his earlier stuff is fantastic! Favourite(s)? Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Funeral for a Friend/Love lies Bleeding and Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word...Hmmmmmm Reply #3. Apr 24 12, 9:49 AM |

Caribou was a very good album, I think that was down to the fact that I was wooing (good word) my wife at the time and she wore it out on the turntable and it brings back memeories. Sadly I never converted her to listen to the Canterbury scene musicians, but hey her loss, she still got me. Reply #4. Apr 24 12, 10:20 AM |

Elton John is one of the most gifted musicians of our time... but I must admit to bias because I am also a keyboard player. When I first heard Elton John play, my first statement was, "He plays just like ME!" Probably the reason for that (I WAS just a kid at the time) was that we were both classically trained. SisterSeagull: I'm with you.....I loved Elton's earliest creations the best, although they are ALL good. His "Madmen Across the Water" album will always be my favorite. Kudos to Reginald Dwight! Love Elton's music! I like many of his songs but I think my favorite would be either "Rocket Man" or "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me". Reply #9. Apr 24 12, 5:22 PM |

I really enjoy most of his stuff from the '70s. What got me listening to him more when I was younger, was 'Amoreena' from the 1975 film 'Dog Day Afternoon'. I think it' a great tune. Good movie as well. I was in the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany with a shattered ankle and the film was playing at the theater there. I was fifteen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYk2IaHxUeA Reply #15. Apr 25 12, 6:34 AM |

I can't choose just one. "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues", "I'm Still Standing", "I Want Love", "Your Song", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", and "Daniel" because it's my husband's name. Reply #16. May 01 12, 12:04 AM |
