Probably was "The Wizard of Oz", shown every year when I was growing up.

The first film I can remember watching was Ten Little Indians, a 1965 film from the classic Agatha Christie novel. (I watched it a few years later). I lived abroad in Thailand and Panama prior to that and do not remember seeing American movies playing on the television.

Something Disney... I think it was one of the princess movies, so probably cinderella.

Some movie with umbrellas in the opening credits. I was 3 or 4 and my aunt took me with her to the movie theater. I fell asleep during it and don't remember anything else. We did go for a very sloppy ice cream sundae after the movie.

I can't remember which was the first movie I saw, but I do know it was on TV. I saw so many when I was very little that I can't say now which was first and which second. I do remember the scenes, though, and later discovered the names of the movies. My earliest movie recollections (all nightmare-inducing to me):

1. The final scene from an obscure version of The Pit & the Pendulum, called something else because I've never been able to find it again, where someone with her tongue cut out gets locked in the pit with no way out and no one to know she's there. (Why she couldn't have screamed was not explained and didn't occur to me to ask as a little kid.)

2. A scene from Tarantula with the enormous spider coming to attack.

3. The scene from Goldfinger where Oddjob cuts someone's head off with his hat.

4. The scene from Ben-Hur where the chariot has knife blades sticking out of the wheels and destroys another chariot's wheels, flipping it upside-down. (I spent the next couple of weeks watching out the car window for cars with knife blades sticking out of their hubcaps.)

5. The scene from Gone With the Wind with the building on fire and the horses panicking.

I used to go to a Saturday cinema for kids in my local town and often the movies we saw were Westerns but I don't remember the names and I'm sure they weren't full length movies. They may have been special features for kids. My earliest strong memory of going to see a movie was when I and a group of friends dressed up to look older than we were so we could get in to see "Bonnie and Clyde". The film made a great impression on me but I could see why there was an age limit. I don't think I'll ever forget the scene where they were mown down at the end.

Most likely a Disney movie. But I do believe the first movie I saw in a theater was "Batman" when I was 5.

Come to think of it now, I'm sure I saw Disney's Sleeping Beauty when I was a young child. Something about the colours in that film fascinated me and I especially remember being impressed when the wicked fairy/witch was fighting with the good fairies and kept changing form into bigger and more terrifying animals. I've always retained an affection for that film though it's not the most popular Disney film I think. I also saw Pinocchio which was great. I loved the story, the characters and the music.

I think in cinema - The Sound of Music . Must have scarred me mentally ever since as I loathe musicals . I would have been 4 or 5 , don't remember it , but am assured I saw it .
How I wish I could say the next one I saw was my first - The Magnificent 7 , that I remember and like .

I'm with Shiningstar7, it was probably The Wizard of Oz, and I remember it being shown at least once a year as well.

I also remember when I was a little kid, my older sister took me to see Planet of the Apes. The original.

The first time I went to the cinema was to see the Tigger Movie. I remember crying my eyes out because it was an emotional rollercoaster.

'The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob' is the first movie I remember watching, even though there must have been some before that.

I remember sitting in a theatre with my parents and watching "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing." It had just been released.

First one I remember was Flaming Star. I was too young to truly understand it.

It was either 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' or 'The Wizard of Oz'. All I can remember was being terrified of the witch in both of them and I was carried, screaming, out of both of them. In my defence, you need to know that I was only about three at the time. The irony is that I grew up, took to life upon the wicked stage, and actually played the Wicked Witch of the West in 'The Wizard of Oz'.
