Subject: Candlestick Park Demolition

Soon Candlestick Park will be no more.

After 54 years, early 2015 is the end of its existence.

There were a lot of memorial moments during the time the Giants and 49s made use of the park.

It's usage wasn't just for baseball. Paul McCartney played the park and it was the last event held at Candlestick.

While Candlestick was windy and didn't meet want some wanted in a park, it still has history.

Even now, the echo of 'play ball' can probably be heard.

I hope so!

That park was one of the worst ever in baseball. If Willie Mays did not have to play there he would have easily hit 800 homers.

Why didn't they tear it down sooner?

Too bad the players didn't have the right to refuse to play. If the park was unplayable, it was a detriment to their careers.

Sometimes sports just...well, you know.

I remember Stu Miller getting blown of the mound while pitching in, I believe, an All-Star Game about 100 years ago (1960s)?
