Yep... VCR's have been irrelevant for at least twenty years now; maybe even longer than that? Reply #2. Jul 24 16, 4:49 PM |

Thanks for the info! I own more VCR tapes than DVDS and my VCR is OLD and needs to be replaced. Reply #3. Jul 24 16, 4:55 PM |

I will probably never go without a VCR. I have many tapes from the 80's-90's of my family and don't have the knowledge/technology to put those onto a DVD. They're precious and cannot be replaced. Also, growing up, my sister and I shared a video camera and made tons of little movies that are also irreplaceable! Reply #4. Sep 17 16, 8:33 AM |

Shame how things become obsolete. I have so many good videos, I used to record specials all of the time, music and comedies. Now I record on my DVR, have a VCR but it ate a video once, I tried another video and it played alright, but now I am intimidated to use it as I don't want to lose anymore videos, so I just keep watching what I record on my DVR. JonPunk, it's amazing how much people collect. I still have an 8-track tape and a cassette. Shhhh! I don't want a visit from the 'get with technology' people. My cell phone..I don't want to talk about it.....laugh instead! Found some retro coffee tables that look like cassettes..they have drink holders too...right where a pencil would go when the darned tapes decided to unwind and you got to rewind the little darlings. What's a VCR? Just kidding. I know it's the latest Big Mac burger. Reply #8. Dec 17 17, 6:52 PM |

I remember when records and record players were said to be obsolete but then they started coming back in, in a more limited way. A shop at the end of our road sells record players for around a thousand pounds or more. We still have one from the 1970s. Reply #9. Apr 03 18, 4:22 PM |

I can understand why people want to own and listen to vinyl though since it has a distinctive sound quality and retro but still functional operation. Video is very poor compared to DVD and I don't think anyone yearns for the way it looks or sounds, especially after a few plays when it starts to wear the tape out a bit. I was glad to throw all mine out. Reply #10. Apr 09 18, 4:29 PM |

I thought my sister was the only person left on the planet still using a VCR!! Where she gets tapes from I really don't know. The shops stopped selling them years and years ago! Needless to say, she's very resistant to change! Reply #12. Oct 11 19, 4:37 AM |

@Skyflyerjen there are people that do know how to transfer video tapes onto dvd.... you should really look into doing that, as you're right, those really are precious! Reply #13. Oct 11 19, 4:42 AM |
