Subject: Does Pineapple Belong on a Pizza?

What's your perspective? Pineapple and pizza?

Considering a beer that tastes like pizza exists, the sky's the limit.

A pizza that tastes like beer? Ew!

We do that at Christmas time with glace cherries inside the pineapple rings....looks very attractive and tastes good.

YES, it belongs on pizza, but only with ham on it as well. Ham and pineapple pizza is pretty darn good!

Cherries? Yum! We usually place cloves in the center of the pineapple. This year, we place cherries!

Thanks, Mommakat.

There are some who put sauce hollandaise on a pizza.

Ham and pineapple is quite a nice combination compared to this.

I'll eat almost ANTHING on a pizza, except fish. I tried pizza with anchovies ONCE. YECH, never again!

I tried anchovy pizza just once, many years ago. Someone handed me a slice and said "Try this, you'll like it." I tried it and did NOT like it. There was definitely something very "fishy" about the situation.......

With almost 150 species of anchovies, odds are they could cross your path again.

Add in the crispy ones...the odds...well, never mind.

Back to pizza!

Canadian bacon (as it is called) or ham with the pineapple?

Wood smoked pizza or oven baked?

Add onions...or not....you're making the pizza!

Dinner at 8 at my house....I wish!

Great post, Elle! It definitely seems like someone will be having crow on their pizza in addition to ham and pineapple. Me? I'll skip the crow and have chicken instead.

I've just listened to a question on "University Challenge" TV show. Apparently pineapple contains a chemical which is a meat tenderizer, so it seems eminently appropriate for a pizza with meat.

Definitely yes. Fruit as part of a main meal is relatively common if you think about it, and a few years ago it was practically mandatory. We eat cranberries with turkey, apples with pork, apricots with lamb, and oranges or even cherries with duck. Tomatoes with....well, pretty much everything. So why not pineapple on pizza?
I like to dip my pizze in balsamic vinegar, which is probably weirder than having pineapple on it.
