Subject: Die Hard Theory: The Inside Man

I'm convinced now after 30+ years that there must have been an inside man at the Nakatomi Corporation. How else could Hans Gruber & co. know everything they knew? They knew that there would be around 30 people at the party, that they would be the only ones in the building, that security was light, how the systems worked and where the control units were located, that there were $640 million in negotiable bearer bonds in the vault, that there was an electromagnetic seal on the vault that could not be cut locally, they knew the name Takagi and his background, but didn't know what he looked like, they knew ahead of time that the only people in the building would be on the 30th floor (hence Theo locking out the elevators up to the 29th floor), etc., etc. And I even know what the inside man's name is: Bill Clay! How else could Hans Gruber have pulled a name out of his *** and have it be on that board? He KNEW Bill Clay worked at the company, and he gambled that McClane wouldn't know who that was.

I think we will just call this creative license. They cant possibly explain to you how they know cause going through all that takes away from an action movie. Everything has to just keep going in an action movie or its ruined so they just know and that's it. I like to nit pick at movies too but in this case certain things are taken for granted. Example, we know people eat, drink and go to the bathroom but a movie doesnt have to show us.
