There seem to be a great many quizzes marked "Updated Dec 03, 21. Moreover, these quizzes don't have the date listed in the right hand column like others do. You have to click through to the quiz play page to find the date. Coincidentally, I haven't so far found any quiz dated before 2017. What's going on?

That jogged my memory -- I recall noticing that too, at some point and thinking "well half the quizzes on here can't all have been put up or last edited on the same day! And why do a whole bunch have no date at all?"

... Well. I didn't add anything to the original post, there, did I! Other than agreeing that I've seen and wondered about this.

At least it's not a figment of my imagination.

Does it have to do when the quiz was last updated in some way? If there was a new sub-category and all the quizzes were moved to this new place, then that would cause an update.
However, I am not sure why we have a last updated record related to quizzes.

Sorry this has taken so long to figure out but I couldn't for the life of me remember why 3 December 2021 was a significant date and why quiz dates were affected. Anyway, it had to do with search engines - one of them changed the way it handled some search aspects, including dates, and FT had to change a lot of code to keep up with it. And those changes were made on... 3 December 2021.

However, it is still possible to use a search engine to look for the dates on which quizzes first went online, although it's a little more complex than it was. and you may need to fiddle a bit.

1. For example, the most basic search would use the following structure:

For people in the US, search on 'funtrivia.com month day year' without the single commas

For people not in the US, search on 'funtrivia.com day month year'

You can abbreviate the month if you like but use three or more letters.

If one of those date formats doesn't work, try the other one.

2. If that doesn't work, try (for example) 'funtrivia.com "mar 12 18" ' - without the single commas but with the double inverted commas.

3. If neither of those things work, try another browser.

4. Make sure you use correct spacing, i.e. the elements of the search phrase should be one space apart.

5. Once you've found what works for you, stick with it.

PLEASE NOTE:

One important factor is that the results you get will rarely point directly at an individual quiz - it will point to a list of quizzes. You need to click on the link to the list and when the FT page appears, check the dates on the right. One of the quizzes in the list will show the date you're looking for.

The search engine may produce more than one list. If so, you may need to click on each result until you find what you're looking for.

Hope this helps.
