Subject: Scoring exact number

Posted by: PootyPootwell

I could have sworn there was a way to score an exact number of points, or at least a way to score multiples of three. Is that game gone?

I wanted to hit 201 to meet a challenge. So I carefully played a Timed game to earn 201 points, but I ended up earning 10 even. Is there a way to earn a specific number that I'm missing? Thank you!

In a timed game you get a point for every 6 you score so clicking on the right answer at 36 seconds will give you 6 points.
You could play a quiz or do enough quick question s to get near your target then use the timed quiz to finish. Good luck

Thank you!!

Can we bring back the other one?! Where we can earn in three-point increments? : )

The game you're referring to has gone. It needed Flash to run it, if I'm remembering correctly. Whatever the system was, it no longer exists so neither does the game.

If you need to get a specific score, using the method described in the link is the way to go. My advice is to use this method when you still have quite a few points needed, so if something goes wrong you have a chance to redo (or just bail out of the game and don't submit it). Work out a target that leaves you with a round figure to finish with - 100, for exam[le, which you can clear by using quick quiz.

I'd been wondering a similar thing. This post has been really helpful - thank you ??

Sorry, a follow-up! How would I be able to score an odd number?

If you need just one point, click on the correct answer when the timer reaches 6 (5 or 7 will also do). If you need 3, click when the timer reaches 18 - and so on. If you have never done it before, it may take some practice, but you'll eventually become good at doing it.

You do have a little leeway either way, too - a point above or below your target usually still works. But, as I mentioned previously, it's best to get the odd numbers at the end matched up sooner rather than later so you have a second chance if it goes wrong.

And if you are aiming at a target avoid the timed games because they might give you bonus points that mess things up.

And then... or rather before... choose a category for your mixed game where you are certain to know the answers (sorry, For Children, you get my vote every time) because once you have got your required number of points, you must get zero points for all the other questions - and that can be harder than you think. Of course you can just not answer anything after you have the points and let the timer run down but I'm far too impatient for that. And it's so easy to misread a question (anyone for "not"?) or for your brain to tell your finger to click on option 1 when you really, really don't want to.

Another word of warning: if you play the Duels, before you choose a mixed game in one of the top categories (for me it's almost always Geography), check if it's one of the daily Duel topics, or you will inevitably lose one of the duels.

All of this is pure nonsense I come here to play trivia to relax so sitting down with a stop watch to figure out how many points I can get so I can match a specific number to gain a challenge is a little too much.

A few days ago with about an hour left in the day I used my remaining change to drop a difficult 4th Challenge that I could not win. So I got a challenge at 40 minutes before shut down to win a challenge i had to obtain 10, 000 points by playing a series of a hourly game (Obscurity) with only one change to play . Great fun right. I wil not be here much longer once my membership ends

kented, some of us find beating these challenges fun. There is a large contingent of competitive folks here.

You ways have the option to ignore any of the Daily challenges that require work that is not stress free or enjoyable to accomplish.

Ms. Bunny, I opt for the For Children topics too. I do admit to feeling dumb when playing Colors for Children and answering Blue and Black when the question is What color is an apple? Being impatient also, I usually answer wrong at least once when counting down the clock.

I also go straight to For Children, lol. But, I invariably hit Iceland if the answer is Ireland (or something similar) it seems like almost every time. Diabolical!

Just as a reminder, make sure you are playing a topic mash or one that is labeled as "Ten mixed questions from a variety of FunTrivia authors.". Otherwise, if your prestige level is over a certain level, you may receive extra bonus points beyond what you are expecting.

Kented, or you can do what I do, and ignore the daily challenges entirely. I never even look at them, and still manage to have a very good time here.

My complaint is simple Yes I know that I can pick my own challenges but I would like to have a fair change of winning You have to complete 3 challenges to get a 4th bonus challenge Complete that challenge and you become eligible for an epic challenge which is rare I use this as one of thr few ways left to me to get some prestige points my 4th challenge was impossible as I had to get a lot of points through repetitive plays of an hourly game but I could only play one game with less than an hour remaining in the game day I seem to be meeting continual frustrations like this and it is taking the fun out of a good game so am told quit if I don't like it.

Challenges are, by definition, meant to be challenging. Of course, what one person sees as challenging, another may see as a cakewalk. I'm perfectly comfortable with 'Twin', but please don't ask me to be number one in Piece of Cake.

I cannot complete some challenges. There are others I detest, and skip. It's O.K. not to be perfectly perfect, and less stressful not to expect it.

As one point of clarification, you actually don't have to complete the fourth challenge to have a chance of being given an Epic the next day. You just have to finish three daily challenges.

Many players -- myself included -- know it's frustrating when a late-day challenge asks for some big number (like score 7000 total game points from playing Obscurity, or complete six Quizzes of the Hour). Those are, unfortunately, just "bad luck." Since those can appear no matter how late it is, they aren't always possible to do.

With the switch-outs, I personally don't like to use them after mid-evening if it's Difficult level, because knowing my luck, I'll often get switched into one that's impossible (due to not enough time left). If you're low on switch-outs and the day is getting late, you might opt to let the one challenge remain incomplete and save the switch-out for the next day. But that's just one idea -- the choice is, of course, completely yours. If one strategy seems better than another (on any given day), maybe give it a try and see if it's a good fit for how you prefer to play.
