Yup, it's golden and extremely difficult to catch according to J.K. Rowling. In 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', in Harry Potter's first game of Quidditch for Gryffindor house he caught the Golden Snitch in his mouth. That same Golden Snitch was gifted to Harry in Albus Dumbledore's will ('Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'). When Harry sacrifices himself for Voldemort, the Golden Snitch opens and inside is the Resurrection Stone which is one of the three Deathly Hallows. Harry does not die though, he just kills the part of Voldemort inside himself.
