Fun Trivia
Philip Pullman has won a number of awards for his fantasy writing. "Northern Lights", the first book of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy was awarded not only a Carnegie Medal in 1995, but also the so-called Carnegie of Carnegies (selected as the best of the first 70 winners) in 2007. It was the basis for the movie "The Golden Compass" (which was also the book's title for its US release).
