Pierce Brosnan Trivia Questions

1. Pierce's film career began in 1980, when he was credited as 'first Irishman' in which Bob Hoskins gangster film?

From Quiz
Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: The Long Good Friday

'The Long Good Friday' was the first starring role for Bob Hoskins, with Helen Mirren as his co-star. Much of the film's plot involves dealings with the Irish Republican Army (IRA), so Pierce would have been able to use his native accent. All the options listed included Hoskins in the cast, but not Brosnan; nor were they all gang related, although 'Mona Lisa', from 1986, did touch on the seedy side of life. Question by Rockette: rossian

2. In 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies", who played the woman who joins forces with James Bond (Pierce Brosnan)?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan's Leading Ladies

Answer: Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh played Wai Lin. This was Brosnan's second movie as 007.

3. Pierce Brosnan starred as the conservationist Grey Owl in a movie imaginatively titled "Grey Owl". What animal was Grey Owl passionate about protecting?

From Quiz What Does James Bond Do In His Spare Time?

Answer: The beaver

Grey Owl was probably one of the first environmentalists. He was an Native Indian conservationist from Canada who wrote books and gave lectures all over the world. At the time (1920's) he was very influental. The ironic part was that 'Grey Owl' the Indian was not an Indian at all, but a guy from London who had always wanted to be an Indian. As soon as he could he left home, travelled to Canada and spent years living with the Indians until he became an adopted part of the tribe. The sad part was that when the truth about 'Grey Owl' came out everyone got carried away by the sensationalism of his lie and forgot about his environmental message.

4. Who played the partner of investigator Mike Graham (Pierce Brosnan) in the movie "Detonator 2: Night Watch" (1995)?

5. Brosnan took on the role originally played by Steve McQueen in the 1999 remake of 'The Thomas Crown Affair'. Who starred opposite Pierce as the insurance investigator who falls for Thomas Crown?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: Renee Russo

While both McQueen and Brosnan played a character named Thomas Crown, the insurance investigator in the original film was named Vicki Anderson, with Renee Russo portraying Catherine Banning. The crime committed in each film was different too, with the first one being a bank robbery and the second an art theft, but the motivation was identical, with Crown enjoying the thrill of outwitting police and other investigators. Faye Dunaway was in the 1968 film. Question by Rockette: rossian

8. The 1997 film 'Dante's Peak' involved which type of disaster?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: Volcanic eruption

This 1997 film also starred Linda Hamilton. Brosnan played a volcanologist, Harry Dalton, who is sent to investigate what has long believed to be a dormant volcano, called Dante's Peak. Although Dalton warns his superiors that the volcano is likely to erupt, his concerns are dismissed, leading to disaster when the townspeople are caught in the lava flows correctly predicted. Critics panned the film, but it was moderately successful with the public. Question by Rockette: rossian

9. Who was the character Pierce played in the mini-series "Noble House"?

From Quiz What Does James Bond Do In His Spare Time?

Answer: Ian Dunross

With a liberal dosing of talculm powder in his hair and his hand firmly planted in his pocket, Pierce played the lead character of Ian Dunross in James Clavell's "Noble House". Ian Dunross was the taipan (chief executive) of the biggest and most powerful company in Hong Kong (which is traditionally called the 'Noble House'). During the course of the mini-series he had to cope with natural disasters, fires, completely implausable occurences, overly dramatic music swelling at the slightest opportunity, truly bad acting from the supporting cast, unnecessary close-ups and the fickle ups and downs of the stockmarket - and the mini-series time frame only spans one week! A truly stunning mini-series and the epitomy of the eighties mini-series genre.

10. In 1995's "Golden Eye", which actress played the woman who joins forces with 007 (Pierce Brosnan)?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan's Leading Ladies

12. Which character did Pierce Brosnan provide the voice for in the animated film 'Quest for Camelot'?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: King Arthur

'Quest for Camelot' was an animated musical about the Arthurian legends, but was based on the novel The King's Damosel by Vera Chapman. It follows the story of how the daughter of one of King Arthur's knights (Sir Lionel, voiced by Gabriel Byrne) and a blind hermit named Garrett (Cary Elwes) manage to end up with their own seats at the Round Table. King Arthur himself was voiced by Pierce Brosnan (although Arthur's singing was done by another actor), while the magician Merlin was voiced by Sir John Gielgud. Question by Rockette: Fifiona81

13. Captain Picard of "Star Trek" meets James Bond 007. Patrick Stewart and Pierce Brosnan both starred in a movie that involved terrorists, nuclear weapons, and a method of transportation. What was the name of this movie?

From Quiz What Does James Bond Do In His Spare Time?

Answer: Deathtrain

While "Deathdunebuggy" is intriging and I would personally love to see a movie with this name, it is not the right answer and we are stuck with the bad action thriller called "Deathtrain". "Deathtrain" involves Pierce Brosnan trying to get the better of some wacked out terrorists and their nuclear bomb by getting on their 'train of death'.

14. In "The Mirror Has Two Faces" (1996), who played the fiancee of Alex (Pierce Brosnan)?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan's Leading Ladies

Answer: Mimi Rogers

Mimi Rogers played Claire Morgan.

15. For which film did Pierce Brosnan receive a Golden Globe nomination for his role as a disillusioned hitman named Julian Noble?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: The Matador

'The Matador' starred Pierce Brosnan as hitman Julian Noble and Greg Kinnear as a businessman named Danny Wright. The pair meet in a bar in Mexico and strike up an unlikely friendship, albeit one that suffers when Julian attempts to enlist Danny's help with some of his 'jobs'. In the end Danny helps Julian with the assassination of his boss - which frees Julian up to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Although Brosnan was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical or comedy, he lost out to Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of Johnny Cash in 'Walk the Line'. 16. Pierce was only in his mid twenties when he gained an instant family with two kids when he married his first wife. What was her name?

From Quiz What Does James Bond Do In His Spare Time?

Answer: Cassandra Harris & Cassandra & Harris

Cassandra Harris was Pierce Brosnan's first wife. She was Australian - Yay!, loved the sea (being an Australian - Yay!) and had two children from a previous marriage. Together Pierce and Cassandra had another child called Sean. Sadly, Cassandra died of cancer in 1991. Pierce eventually remarried a journalist called Keely and has had another two boys called Dylan and Paris (poor kids... I forsee years of therapy to get over those names). No offence meant to any person called Dylan or Paris, Mr Brosnan or his lovely wife.

17. Which actress starred opposite Pierce's character (Andy) in 2001's "The Tailor Of Panama"?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan's Leading Ladies

Answer: Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis played Louisa. Big thanks to LauraHolt on this question! :-)

18. Pierce plays the role of Stu Dunmeyer in which 1993 film, starring Robin Williams?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: Mrs Doubtfire

The film is among the best known of many to star Robin Williams. In 'Mrs Doubtfire' he dresses up as an elderly housekeeper so he can spend time with his children. His estranged wife, played by Sally Field, has acquired a new boyfriend by the name of Stu Dunmeyer, which is where Pierce Brosnan comes in. All the options listed starred Robin Williams, but only 'Mrs Doubtfire' also included Brosnan in the cast. Question by Rockette: rossian

19. In "The World Is Not Enough" (1999), James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) teams up with an expert in nuclear weapons played by which actress?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan's Leading Ladies

Answer: Denise Richards

Denise Richards played Dr. Christmas Jones.

20. Pierce Brosnan reprised his role as Sam Carmichael in the 2018 film 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again'. His only solo song in this sequel was a partial 'a cappella' performance of which ABBA hit?

From Quiz Pierce Brosnan On Screen

Answer: SOS

The plot of 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' flitted backwards and forwards between the present day and the events of the 1970s that were hinted at in the original film. In the present day Pierce Brosnan's character had become one of the three possible grandfathers of Sophie Sheridan's new baby (in addition to being one of Sophie's three possible fathers in 'Mamma Mia'). In the past, the story covered how a young Sam (played by Jeremy Irvine) had met and lost Donna Sheridan, was portrayed. Brosnan's performance of 'SOS' - particularly the lines "When you're gone, how can I even try to go on" - were about Sam's attempts to come to terms with living without Donna in the future. 21. In "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993), who played the woman who begins dating Stu (Pierce Brosnan) shortly after her marriage breaks down?
