Rammstein Trivia Questions

1. Which Rammstein song contains this lyric: "Nun das Warten hat ein Ende, leiht euer Ohr einer Legende." [EN: Now the waiting is at an end, lend your ear to a legend."]

From Quiz
Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Rammlied

This appeared on the band's 2009 album "Liebe Ist Fuer Alle Da" which means "Love Is There For Everyone". It is their sixth album. The song title itself translates to "Rammsong". This was the band's comeback album after their fifth album "Rosenrot" ("Rosered") which was released in 2005. This is reflected in the (rather egotistic!) lyric in the question: "Wer wartet mit Besonnenheit, der wird belohnt zur rechten Zeit; nun das Warten hat ein Ende, leiht euer Ohr einer Legende" which means in English: "Whoever waits with patience will be rewarded at the right time; now the waiting is at an end, lend your ear to a legend." I feel it's a bit egoistic in the sense of proclaiming your own album, song, or perhaps the band, to be "a legend" before it's even released!

From Quiz Rammstein Live Aus Berlin part 1

4. Where is the term Rammstein taken from?

From Quiz Everything Rammstein

Answer: Ramstein & Rammstein & Rammstein Air Force Base & Ramstein Air Force Base

This is taken from the fatal crash during an air show at Ramstein Air Force Base. The song 'Rammstein' is also about this accident.

5. "Hab' ich dein Weib? Toete mich und iss mich ganz auf!" Which song contains this rather gruesome lyric, which translates to "Do I have your wife? Kill me and eat me all up."

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Eifersucht

The song title means "Jealousy" and the lyrics are very good in my opinion, containing lines such "Am I prettier? Then cut up my face. Am I stronger? Then break my neck cowardly." They give out a message, to me at least, that jealousy is pointless, and that these "solutions" to the problem would never be carried out by the jealous person in the first place! This song appeared on the second album "Sehnsucht" ("Longing").

12. Do you know which song these lyrics come from? "Alle Haeuser sind verschneit; und in den Fenstern Kerzenlicht". [EN: "All the houses are covered in snow, and there is candlelight in the windows".]

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Stirb Nicht Vor Mir (Don't Die Before I Do)

This song appeared on the fifth album "Rosenrot" ("Rosered"), and is a duet with Sharleen Spiteri, singer of the band Texas. Many fans seemed to dislike the song, feeling that it went too far from the band's usual genre, but I personally think it's a lovely song. Unfortunately, this album hasn't been played much live - only the first track "Benzin" ("Petrol") has been played live!

It's a grey jacket.

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Der Meister

The song "Der Meister" ("The Master") appeared on the band's debut album "Herzeleid" ("Heartache"), which was released in 1995 in Europe. There was some controversy about the album's cover, which featured the band members topless against a background picture of a flower; apparently critics claimed they were trying to promote themselves as "poster boys for the master race"! I personally don't see what six topless men has to do with Hitler or Nazism, but you can make up your own mind about it.

20. Which song does this lyric appear on? "Er hat die Augen aufgemacht, doch er ist nicht aufgewacht"; [EN: "He opened his eyes, but he didn't wake up"].

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Adios

"Adios", Spanish for "Goodbye", appeared on the third album "Mutter" (German for "Mother"). It details quite vividly the effects of a drug overdose, and the line I used in the question is to imply the man's death. The refrain used in this song was reworked from a very old demo track of Rammstein's, which was named "Jeder Lacht" ("Everybody laughs"). (I apologize that I cannot put in the accent on the "o" of "Adios"; I think that some characters are unsupported by the system.)

From Quiz Everything Rammstein

Answer: You have

This is the correct conjugation of the verb 'haben' (Du hast). 'You hate' (Du hasst), 'You Are' (Du bist), 'You hurt' (Du verletzt). This answer was translated from the 'Sehnsucht' album text that is included in the album's booklet.

24. Which song contains this lyric? "Sie sagen zu mir, schliess auf diese Tuer; die Neugier wird zum Schrei, was wohl dahinter sei". [EN: "They say to me, open this door; the curiosity is screaming - what is behind it."]

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Klavier

"Klavier" ("Piano") appeared on the album "Sehnsucht" ("Longing"), and has a quite morbid theme - the singer apparently has killed his piano teacher and locked her body in a room! Eventually, people get suspicious, and the deed is discovered. Till Lindemann, the band's lyricist and vocalist, is a poet as well as a songwriter, and some people find the dark content of his lyrics a bit offputting. He released a book of poems, entitled "Messer", meaning "Knife", in 2002 - I recommend it if you are a fan of his writing style in Rammstein's songs!

25. How did the singer cut his head?

From Quiz Rammstein Live Aus Berlin part 1

Answer: banging the microphone against his head

He gets so excited he bangs his head with the microphone.

28. The lyrics "Weiter weiter ins Verderben, wir muessen leben bis wir sterben" appeared in which track? [EN: "Further further into ruin, we must live until we die".]

From Quiz Do You Know Your Rammstein Lyrics?

Answer: Dalai Lama

The song "Dalai Lama" appeared on the band's fourth album "Reise, Reise", which means "Journey, Journey", or also "Arise, arise" in the sense of a wake-up call used for sailors. The song was based on a poem by Goethe, "Der Erlkoenig" ("The Prototype"), written in 1782, and is about a plane accident. This is reflected in the name of the album, as well as the front cover, which depicts a black box from a plane, with the words "Flugrekorder nicht oeffnen" - "Do not open flight recorder". The title of the song alludes to the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who has an open dislike of air travel.

29. What happens at the end of the song "Asche Zu Asche"?

From Quiz Rammstein Live Aus Berlin part 1

Answer: the microphones catch fire
