Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What odd food do Jake and Oy discover before arriving at Calla Bryn Sturgis?

Answer: Muffin-Balls

After passing through Topeka in "Wizard and Glass", the ka-tet heads further down the Path of the Beam to the Dark Tower. One night, Eddie, Jake, and Oy go Todash and arrive in New York City on the day that Jake bought "Charlie Choo-Choo" and the riddle book used against Blaine the Mono.

They head to the Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind and discover that after Jake left the store, Enrico Balazar's goons pulled up to speak with Calvin Tower about the vacant lot containing the all-important rose.
2. What is the more common name of the final glass orb that makes up the Bends O' The Rainbow?

Answer: Black Thirteen

While Eddie, Jake and Oy go todash, Roland follows Susannah into the nearby swamp and discovers that she's eating live frogs and other swamp creatures. He also finds that a woman named Mia seems to be another personality within Susannah (although Detta and Odetta have been fused together), and that Mia is carrying a chap.

After a quick palaver, a man named Donald Callahan (a familiar face to Stephen King fans) approaches them and asks for their help. He also mentions that he has the Black Thirteen in his church in Calla Bryn Sturgis.
3. While in the todash state, the author of "Charlie Choo-Choo" changes to what name?

Answer: Claudia y Inez Bachman

Although the author was originally Beryl Evans, Eddie and Jake note that Claudia y Inez Bachman is now the name on the cover. In the next book, Stephen King explains that Claudia Inez Bachman was the wife of his pseudonym. The ka-tet also notes that the name has 19 letters with the 'y' in it.

When the group goes todash the second time, Susannah realizes that her legs are back (though they're really Mia's legs) and they head to the vacant lot with the rose. Here they find a bowling bag that they take with them and they encounter the vagrant dead.
4. What is an ingredient in Rosalita Munoz' arthritis cream?

Answer: Rock-cat bile

When the ka-tet arrives in Calla Bryn Sturgis, they are welcomed by most of the citizens who hope that the gunslingers can fight off the wolves which threaten to take their children away to the Thunderclap (and return them roont). After all, it was Ka that made them arrive at the time before the wolves arrived.

The messenger robot, Andy, warned Tian Jaffords that the wolves would ome in a month's time. At a large gathering, the ka-tet introduces themselves (including Oy, who speaks to the audience and bows) and offers to help if they can.

Then, Roland dances the rice dance and surprises his fellow gunslingers while winning over the crowd.
5. What word is written in symbols on the box found under the floorboards of Pere Callahan's church?

Answer: Unfound

After the town meeting, Callahan tells the ka-tet his story following the days of Barlow in Salem's Lot. He went to New York after losing his faith and became an alcoholic. He helped out at a place called 'Home' which helped other alcoholics, and soon he began to see other vampires.

When he started killing them, he soon realized that his best friend had also become a vampire, but that he had also contracted AIDS. He ended up leaving New York and going todash many times across America. He also fled from the low men (first mentioned in Stephen King's book "Hearts in Atlantis"). Roland helps Pere Callahan retrieve the Black thirteen so that Eddie can convince Calvin Tower to sell the ka-tet the vacant lot.
6. What is an Oriza?

Answer: A plate

At one point, the story of Oriza (the goddess responsible for the rice) is brought up to Roland and he discovers that many women from the Calla wield Oriza plates. After a competition, he determines that he and the others can use the ladies' help in battle against the wolves. Orizas are plates which have sharpened edges that can slice (or behead) an opponent.
Roland also hears Gran-Pere Jaffords' story about the time that he stood up to the wolves. This is one of the things that helps the gunslingers figure out how to attack their foes.
7. Which song does Pere Callahan find to be a bad omen?

Answer: Someone Saved My Life Tonight

After Roland talks to Henchick of the Manni, Pere Callahan tells the end of his story. When he was in San Francisco, his other friend was attacked by The Hitler Brothers in New York, so he rushed back. While they were dying in the hospital, Callahan was also attacked by the Hitler Brothers but he was saved by two unknown men (which the ka-tet believes to be Calvin Tower and Aaron Deepneau four years in the future). Callahan ended up meeting Walter O'Dim after stumbling into Mid-World, and he was sent to the Calla with Black Thirteen.
8. Who wins the Oriza competition?

Answer: Rosalita

Since the ka-tet only has three guns, Roland suggests that Susannah wield Orizas as well. During the competition, Pere Callahan's assistant Rosalita Munoz wins the competition and the ladies are asked to fight alongside the gunslingers. After this, Eddie and Roland set up the door in the Doorway Cave (aka Cave of Voices) and Eddie heads to New York City to talk to Calvin Tower.

He beats up some of Balazar's men before making the deal with Tower and taking a bookcase of rare books to the cave. One of these books is "Salem's Lot", which has great significance for Pere Callahan and the ka-tet, and another is called "The Hogan" (though it's actually a typo), and it's written by Benny Slightman Jr., who is also Jake's friend in Calla Bryn Sturgis.
9. Who discovers the Dogan?

Answer: Jake

After finding Andy and Benny Slightman's father conversing in an odd location, he decides to take Oy and investigate one night. He comes across the Dogan, a large mechanical facility where Mr. Slightman and Andy speak with someone in Thunderclap.
Meanwhile, after Eddie suggests to Calvin Tower to let them know where he's headed up north, Pere Callahan finds the Maine zip code to the location at the vacant lot.
10. What was the name of the robot that betrayed Calla Bryn Sturgis?

Answer: Andy

After Jake discovers the Dogan, Eddie destroys Andy the messenger robot in Rosalita Munoz' privy. During the battle against the wolves, Roland and the others hide the children and trick the wolves, which are actually machines. In the end, Benny Slightman Jr. and Margaret Eisenhart are killed, but the children are saved from the wolves. During the festivities, the ka-tet barely realizes that Susannah has gone missing. Mia has taken over, and she's taken the Black Thirteen to New York City.
