Question 1 of 5
1. A real obvious one - Who narrates the first chapter, even though she died in the original novel?

Answer: (Two Words)
Question 2 of 5
2. Erik was the one who gave Pierre the musical monkey. Ironically, who bought it in the musical? Hint

Question 3 of 5
3. Forsyth clearly states in the prologue that he bases his facts on the ALW musical. Thus, according to him, Meg is ten years younger than the Phantom when Mme. Giry rescues him from a carnival. How old would this have made her when the main scandal of the Phantom and Christine takes place? Hint

Question 4 of 5
4. Forsyth says that two months after the final scene in the musical happens (when Erik allows both Christine and Raoul to escape), Christine is found with child and Raoul marries her. We can obviously infer that this union between the Phantom and Christine took place during her first trip underground (in the 'Music of the Night' scene.) Since the final scene takes place sixth months after the first act, she would have to have been how many months along in her pregnancy? Hint

Question 5 of 5
5. The Phantom knew that Pierre was his own son and he was the one who told Christine. (Remember that ROMANTIC maze of mirrors scene in Forsyth's novel?) Forsyth states in his novel that, due to the surgery to remove the bullet shot into his lower stomach, Raoul could not engage in sexual relations. Thus, does this imply that Christine should have known long before Erik did?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A real obvious one - Who narrates the first chapter, even though she died in the original novel?

Answer: Mme. Giry

I found this odd.
2. Erik was the one who gave Pierre the musical monkey. Ironically, who bought it in the musical?

Answer: Raoul

So how did Erik get it back? (The Persian was not in the musical. Firmin is not in this scene.)
3. Forsyth clearly states in the prologue that he bases his facts on the ALW musical. Thus, according to him, Meg is ten years younger than the Phantom when Mme. Giry rescues him from a carnival. How old would this have made her when the main scandal of the Phantom and Christine takes place?

Answer: around forty

The Phantom is almost fifty when it all takes place. Christine is around 19 or 20.

Answer: eight

This, of course, is unless she went back to the Phantom, accepted his love, and, to put it frankly, had sex. And did that happen? No. Well, it would certainly be romantically up to our own imaginations, but as the Leroux novel is a true story and the Opera Ghost did indeed die in that novel, I am inclined to believe what Leroux says. His source, the Persian, doesn't lie!

Answer: yes

How could Raoul not have known? And, since Forsyth doesn't say that Christine ever told him after she found out, are we to assume that he knew all along and never told Christine? What kind of a husband does that! So Erik has yet ANOTHER reason to punjab Raoul! In short, the novel had a tragic storyline that we all know didn't take place. Of course, Leroux's story did, in some degree (it is likely that he stretched the story to make it more sellable) and if Leroux were alive I think he should be SUING Forsyth. 'Phantom of Manhattan' was a novel that did NOT deserve to be written. I will admit that I read the book in four hours, crying my eyes out at two in the morning today, after Christine died, but that's simply because the general story of Erik has remained committed to my inner thoughts. Pardon me, I have to go finish reading the original Leroux novel for the 23rd time and get the ACTUAL facts. AND - furthermore, in Mme. Giry's letter to Mr. Muhlheim (Erik) in Forsyth's novel, she says that 'only she, Christine, and Raoul' know that Pierre is really Erik's son. So, does she know or does she not?!?!?
