Nancy Hanks and Thomas Lincoln were the parents. Anne and William were the Shakespeares; Anne and Charles were the Lindberghs. Sally and Thomas is a reference to Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings.

Answer: 'Milk Sickness'

'Milk Sickness' apparently occurs when cows eat poisonous plants and pass the poison along (via their milk) to humans. Ann Rutledge, alleged to be Lincoln's 'true love', died of what was then called 'brain fever'.
