Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the tragic weakness of Annette, the French scullery maid (Hint: She was the most beautiful woman in the world when Buttercup was born)?

Answer: Chocolate

The Duchess de Guiche placed chocolates around the castle because she knew that Annette couldn't resist them. Annette ate all of the chocolates and became fat. Consequently, the Duke had no further interest in her. It was not all bad for Annette though--She married the pastry Chef and ate a lot until old age claimed her.
2. Where was Fezzik's real might?

Answer: His arms

Fezzik's brain was quite weak. He did have a good heart and his legs were incredibly strong, but his true might was in his arms, which would never tire no matter what they had to do.
3. ORIGINALLY, what was the only response that Westley could get from the albino (This changed later, but at first, Westley could only get one response from him)?

Answer: A shrug

At first, no matter what Westley asked him, the albino would only shrug, but after a while Westley managed to get him to open up.
4. Where did the orignal Dread Pirate Roberts live?

Answer: Patagonia

The original Dread Pirate Roberts had been retired for 15 years and was living like a king in Patagonia when Westley inherited his throne.
5. How many days away was the wedding when Buttercup's nightmares began?

Answer: 60

Her first nightmare involved the ancient woman who booed her and told her what a bad person she was. The nightmares got even worse after that.
6. What was the king's name?

Answer: Lotharon

Lotharon was Humperdinck's ill father. He was very confused throughout the book and mumbled when he spoke.
7. To what level was the machine set when Humperdinck killed Westley?

Answer: Level 20

Each level of the machine sucked a year out of a person's life. Westley lost over 20 years of his life with all of his machine incidents combined.
8. What was Yellin's relationship to the albino?

Answer: He was his first cousin

Yellin and his fisrt cousin, the albino, were the only two non-nobles that Prince Humperdinck came close to trusting.
9. How did Inigo trick Fezzik into beating the Arabian Garstini?

Answer: Inigo told Fezzik that he had many rhymes to share with him

After defeating the snake, Fezzik wanted to know about the rhymes Inigo had planned for him. When Inigo told Fezzik that he had tricked him, Fezzik became quite angry, as he didn't approve of lying under any circumstances.
10. To whom did William Goldman accredit this book (Who did he say wrote it?)?

Answer: S. Morgenstern

He said that his version of the Princess Bride was just an abridgement of the original by S. Morgenstern, but William Goldman was the true author.
