Answer: Minerva McGonagall

Professor McGonagall is the Transfiguration teacher. She is also the Head of Gryffindor House. Professor McGonagall is very stern. She wears glasses and always wears her hair in a tight bun. McGonagall is an animagus, which means she can turn into an animal.

Her animagus form is a cat. Professor McGonagall has been working at Hogwarts for thirty nine years. She was very close to Dumbledore. Professor McGonagall is a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". McGonagall is portrayed in the films by Maggie Smith.

Answer: Professor Snape

Professor Snape finally gets his wish and fills in the DADA teaching post. Snape has been the Potions master for all his teaching days. Horace Slughorn is the Potions master in "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". The DADA job is rumoured to be cursed ever since Tom Riddle (Voldemort) was turned down for it.

In Harry's time at Hogwarts the Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers never had much luck! In "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", when Voldemort takes over, Amycus Carrow takes the DADA post, but it wasn't Defence Against the Dark Arts anymore, just the Dark Arts.

He taught them evil stuff. He made them do the Cruciatus Curse on people who got detention. When Voldemort was killed the curse was off.

Answer: Snape

After Dumbledore died, Severus Snape became Headmaster in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". Voldemort was in control of the Wizarding World at the time. The Carrows were teachers at Hogwarts too. Near the end of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Snape jumps out of a window and resigns. We find out that after Voldemort kills Snape, there's no portrait of him hanging in the Headmaster's Office, unlike all of the rest of the dead Headmasters.

In an interview with J K Rowling, she said that after Harry found out Snape was good, he would see to it that he got a portrait there.

Answer: Armando Dippet

Armando Dippet was the Headmaster before Dumbledore. We see him in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", in Tom Riddle's memory. Like Dumbledore, he had to cope with the Basilisk Petrifying and even killing people.

Filius Flitwick is the Charms teacher. He is also Head of Ravenclaw. He is short and has to stand on books to reach his desk. Flitwick fights in the Battle of Hogwarts along with all the other teachers. Pomona Sprout is the Herbology teacher.

After a Hippogriff attacks a student he starts showing them really boring animals, like Flobberworms. Professor Wilhelmina Grubblyplank is a substitute for Hagrid in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".

In "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone" Harry has Astronomy every Wednesday at eleven o clock at night on top of the Astronomy tower. Professor Aurora Sinistra has only ever had one class in the books. We have never seen any other Astronomy lessons after the first one. Harry takes his OWL in Astronomy in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" so we know that he still takes the subject.

Muggle Studies is the study of how muggles (non-magical people) live. It is not compulsory for every student. Harry and Ron don't take Muggle Studies. Hermione does, despite being a muggleborn. Professor Charity Burbage is the teacher in this class. In "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" we see that Voldemort has captured her.

He kills her because she wrote an article in "The Daily Prophet" that muggles aren't so different to magical people. When Voldemort takes over Alecto Carrow takes over the classes. Muggle Studies is now compulsory for every student. Alecto goes on about how muggles are filthy animals.

Professor Cuthbert Binns is the History of Magic teacher. One day he fell asleep in the Staff Room in an armchair and died. The next day he woke up as a ghost and carried on as normal. He always enters the classroom through the blackboard. His classes are very boring and he has a boring voice. Most people fall asleep in his class.

Answer: Neville Longbottom

Neville Longbottom was very good at Herbology in the books. He got Outstanding in his Herbology OWL. Herbology is kind of like muggle gardening. They learn about magical plants there.
