Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mia, Vincent, Jules, Butch were played by...

Answer: Thurman, Travolta, Jackson, Willis

Amanda Plummer played Honey Bunny, Ving Rhames played Marsellus Wallace, Christopher Walken was Capt. Koons, Rosanna Arquette was Jody, Tim Roth was Pumpkin, Harvey Keitel was The Wolf, and Maria de Medeiros was Fabienne. And of course, Uma Thurman was Mia Wallace, John Travolta was Vincent Vega, and Samuel L. Jackson played Jules Winnfield. And Bruce Willis was Butch Coolidge.
2. In the first scene, we see a young man and woman in an LA diner, discussing the finer points of robbery, revving themselves up for armed holdup. They are ...

Answer: Honey Bunny and Pumpkin

We never learn Pumpkin's real name, though Jules calls him Ringo. Honey Bunny is revealed to be Yolanda. The diner scene precedes the opening credits and is the final scene, after much time-shuffling.
3. Jules and Vincent are off to work in their chosen profession (hit-men)in the initial scene after the credits. Vincent is just back from Europe, and astounds Jules by telling him what the French call a Quarter-Pounder with Cheese (the metric system, y'know). What was it?

Answer: Royale with Cheese

Among other pre-hit discussions is whether a foot-massage is, or is not, a sexual act. Vincent wins this argument hands-down, when he asks Jules if he had given a GUY a foot-massage!
4. Jules and Vincent are paying a friendly visit to four young men, who, most unwisely, decided to withold Marsellus Wallace's valued property which is in a briefcase. What was it?

Answer: We never find out.

In a scene lifted from "Paris, Texas", we only see Vincent's awed face softly lit by a golden glow when he opens the briefcase.
5. Jules has style. Before offing one of his victims, he works himself into a frenzy by declaiming an Old Testament passage he memorized. Do you remember the Biblical reference?

Answer: Ezekiel 25:17

PLEASE don't say you picked the 23rd Psalm!
6. Butch Coolidge is a fading prize-fighter, paid to a throw a fight by crime-boss Marsellus. How does Butch agree to this?

Answer: "In the fifth, my...goes down."

This scene introduces the prickly relationship of Butch and Vincent, said relationship to be terminated (literally) a few scenes later.
7. Vincent is employed by Marsellus to "take care" of his wife, Mia (no, not THAT way, silly!). At first Vincent is as nervous as a long-tailed cat at a rocking chair convention, but soon loosens up, and they purportedly win a twist competition. Whose? (It's the name of the '50s style restaurant they go to.)

Answer: Jackrabbit Slim's

It's fun in the movie trying to pick out the long-dead '50s stars. At least at my age I have a chance of identifying the Philip Morris Midget. Sharp-eared watchers will note the radio news that the trophy was been stolen! So much for Travolta's dancing!
8. By far the most gruesome scene is played out when battling Marsellus and Butch fall into the clutches of a pair straight out of "Deliverance". With what weapon does Butch take his vengeance?

Answer: Samurai sword

The Hillbilly pair's pet sado-masochistic object is known only as "The Gimp". Butch considers all the above weapons, but really, there was only one choice!
9. Quentin Tarantino has a small part in the film, a la Hitchcock. Who did he play? (Hint: his wife Bonnie was due home in 90 minutes, and was unlikely to be impressed by a headless corpse in her garage.)

Answer: Jimmie

Harvey Keitel plays "The Wolf", who cleans up the mess after Vincent accidently blows away the remaining one of the unfortunate boys who ripped off Marsellus. Perhaps thankfully, we never see Bonnie, except in Jimmie's fevered imagination.
10. Vincent and Jules go their separate ways, Vincent almost ripped asunder by a Czech machine-pistol (presumably Marsellus'), Jules achieving Enlightenment and determined to "walk the Earth", like Caine in "Kung Fu". For a tough last question, what T-shirts are they wearing in the final scene?

Answer: "I'm with Stupid" and UC Santa Cruz

To me, the attraction of "Pulp Fiction" (apart from the mind-blowing violence), is the philosophical repartee between Jules and Vincent, e.g. what constitutes a filthy animal? If it has a good personality, does that make it less filthy? Jules opines that a "Cary Grant of pigs" might not be a filthy animal!
