Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which German city did John Bonham collapse after only performing several songs during their 1980 tour?

Answer: Nuremberg

Bonham collapsed and, according to legend, was violently ill from eating 27 bananas - no joke. Ah, life in the fast lane. They only performed 3 songs and never rescheduled the aborted show.
2. In 1974, where did Led Zeppelin re-shoot several pieces of "live" footage to patch into the live sequences of their upcoming film "The Song Remains The Same"?

Answer: Shepperton Studios

Much of the live footage from 1973's Madison Square Garden shows were botched, such that they had to film "fake" live footage here the next year.
3. Who was Jimmy Page's guitar tech for most tours?

Answer: Ray Thomas

Jimmy's small onstage guitar arsenal, combined with his overbearing picking style, lead to many frenetic occasions of Thomas needing to replace a broken string while thousands waited. Such "broken string" moments usually led to the greatest rarities in performance, as once they played without Page in 1969 (performing "I Gotta Move" without Page) and in Salt Lake City in 1973 - Plant, Jones, and Bonham belted out a brief rendition of "Georgia On My Mind" while Page waited for his guitar.
4. Jimmy Page recorded several solo songs in the mid-60s. He even sang on one! Name the record label that gave him the shot.

Answer: Fontana

They should've saved the wax for candles. An off-handed project that had little hopes of sweeping success, Jimmy's peculiarly nasally voice didn't help the record's cause.
5. Name Jimmy Page's 14-year-old girlfriend who often escorted him during the 1973 tour.

Answer: Lori Maddox

Her parents allegedly approved of the relationship, the big perv.
6. Which rock artist did NOT perform onstage with Zeppelin during the 1970s?

Answer: Eric Clapton

Moon played with them during encores in L.A. on June 23, 1977. Ron Wood jammed onstage in Nassau Coliseum in 1975. Mick Ralphs jammed in Fort Worth for a special version of "It'll Be Me" on May 22, 1977.
7. Who introduced Led Zeppelin to the crowd at Earl's Court on May 24, 1975?

Answer: Nicky Horne

Various DJs and musical personalities were invited to be M.C. for one of the five nights at Earl's Court. Horne's famous comment was "Your mother wouldn't like it..." - referring to the youthful and brash nature of Zep's performances.
8. Brutal one now - old school bootlegger Neutral Zone released a two-volume CD set called "Live in Stoke, England" volumes one and two. The picture on the front of volume two was Robert Plant from what year?

Answer: 1976

The picture was of Plant attending the 1976 premiere of the film "The Song Remains The Same".
9. Folk singer/weirdo Roy Harper was often seen with the group, and allegedly friends. He also sang lead vocals on a very popular (non-Zep) song - though few seem to know about it - which song?

Answer: Have A Cigar

Yep, he really did sing that song. Harper constantly followed the Zeppelin entourage, but was always a favorite of Plant and Page.
10. What was Stryder?

Answer: Robert Plant's dog

Immortalized in the song "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" - the song was about Stryder, Plant's dog. He often yelled out "Stryder!" at the end of live performances of the tune during the 1977 tour.
