It was not until the Illustrated London News published an engraving of the Royal Family gathered around a Christmas tree in December 1848 that the general public began to adopt the custom.

The generous Prince Albert also presented large numbers of trees to schools and Army barracks at Christmas.

Ray Price is one of Australia's most accomplished Rugby League players of all time. He also played Rugby Union at an international level and received the Order of Australia Medal in 1985.
