Miss Rossiter(brunette)and Miss Parton (blonde) were typists in the typist's room. Mrs Johnson was the "indefatigable lady who ruled dispatching, the office boys and the first aid cupboard"

The Times Atlas was the book which the victim was clutching when he fell on the spiral staircase, and so was not in the office which Mr Bredon inherited.

Miss Vavasour, "a tough jane" according to the porter, was the lady with whom Jim Tallboy had been seen in town, and who subsequently arrived at Pym's to try to blackmail him into marriage. Miss de Momerie, a society drug addict, was attracted by Mr Bredon, as was Miss Dean (though she later married Mr Willis, her erstwhile beau.) Shame on you if you thought that Mrs Charles Parker (nee Lady Mary Wimsey) could stoop so low!

The White Stag and the Yelverton Arms had been ticked off in the phone book, and had already been used as contact points for transferring the goods. The Stag at Bay was the place at which the police finally "bagged the whole crew".

Joseph Potts, also known as "Ginger Joe" was delighted to be involved in solving the crime, and never doubted Mr Bredon, even when he was arrested for the murder of Dian de Momerie.

Wilfred Cotterill had had a nose bleed on the day of the murder, and had been asleep in the Boys room, missing all the excitement, and merely remarking "Oo-er!" when he heard of the accident.
Bill Jones had been in the lift, and Sam Tabbitt was just coming out of the Big Conference room.

Miss Meteyard was working on a series of adverts for Tomboy Toffee, and Mr Ingleby produced snobbish copy for several companies, including Twentyman's Teas ("Everyone, everywhere always agrees on the flavour and value of Twentyman's teas") and Farley's Footwear ("Farley's puts you on a sound footing") Mr Bredon was the bright spark who thought up the Whifflet's campaign "Whiffle your Way round Britain" whereby you saved for your family holiday through smoking Whifflet's.... ("The only thing you could not get by whiffling is a coffin: it is not admitted that any Whiffler could ever require such an article.")

Mr Todd Milligan, in whose house Mr Bredon met Dian de Momerie, was run over in Piccadilly, shortly after Mr Bredon mentioned his name in connection with "a spot of the doings". It was Dian de Momerie who had her throat cut, with a penny whistle and harlequin mask left beside the body thus allegedly linking it to Mr Bredon. It was Victor Dean who fell down the spiral staircase at Pym's.

The Morning Star carried the information in an advertisment. The Evening Comet was the sister paper to the Morning Star, and Hector Puncheon reported for both papers.
