Grissom and Catherine enter the lab and see Greg doing what he's doing, so Grissom pulls the plug on his music. Greg is in this episode a lot, since he is trying to pass his proficiency test. It's about a man who was obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and was found dead. Greg's thoughts on the case were wrong, but Grissom passed him anyway since Greg didn't give up and went to gather more evidence.

Catherine places an unidentified liquid in the fumehood, not knowing that the heat is turned up, and a little while later, Greg smells burning plastic. He turns around and... Kaboom! Greg flies back with the explosion and lands on the ground. He's taken to the hospital, but he'll live, fortunately.

The ironic part about this episode is that Catherine and Warrick are trying to find out who or what blew up the lab, but it ends up being Catherine.

Nick was featured on the cover of a magazine and was called a "Crimestopper". Somehow Greg got ahold of one and gave it to Warrick and Sara. Greg is told that Nick is looking for him, so he finds him. Nick clamps his hand on Greg's shoulder hard and says, "Keep out of my personal life, man."

He also likes surfing and scuba diving. It's actually helpful that he collects coins; he gets to do some undercover work at a store where a man sells some rare coins.

He watches the security tapes of a hotel where a girl has been kidnapped. Catherine walks in and says, "How are you doing?" Greg replies, "I think my eyes need Band-aids."

He is doing this to demonstrate how a person was killed. She was wearing a costume with holes to breathe and someone or something plugged up the holes. In the same way, Greg couldn't breathe through the markers.
