1. What is Milton's main weakness? He is _____.

Answer: blind

Milton is blind, and he expresses this quite bitterly, speaking of God:

"thou/
Revisit'st not these eyes, that roll in vain/
To find thy piercing ray, and find no dawn." (iii)

Milton expresses this several times.
2. Milton invokes the muses in "Paradise Lost".

Answer: True

Many many times, like once every few books or so, he takes a break to speak of his troubles and his problems, and invokes the Muses. "O Heavenly Muse..."
3. What did God do to invoke Satan's disobedience in "Paradise Lost"?

Answer: appoint the Son

God appoints the Son to tempt Satan, and incited him to disobedience. Then he punished him, creating a never-ending cycle of disobedience.
4. In "Paradise Lost", Satan and his fallen ones cannot redeem themselves.

Answer: True

"Him who disobeys/
Me disobeys, breaks union, and that day/
Cast out from God and blessed vision, falls/
Into utter darkness, deep engulfed, his place/
Ordained without redemption, without end." (v)

Answer: False

Satan shows some good characteristics, i.e. remorse, and love for God, but is overcome by hopelessness and thus rage.
6. Complete the memorable quote from "Paradise Lost": "He for God only, she for _____ __ ____"?

Answer: God in him

It's in book iv, where Adam and Eve are first introduced:

"For contemplation he and valour formed,/
For softness she and sweet attractive grace,/
He for God only, she for God in him." (iv)
7. Name the one Seraph who stands up to Satan in the name of God in "Paradise Lost".

Answer: Abdiel

He is but a lowly Seraph, and still remains true to God, when everyone else is swayed by Satan's argument.

"Among the faithless, faithful only he;/
Among innumerable false, unmoved,/
Unshaken, unseduced, unterrified,/
His loyalty he kept, his love, his zeal." (v)
8. Name Satan's daughter, according to "Paradise Lost".

Answer: Sin

Ironic huh? Satan's daughter is Sin, sprung from his thoughts. Sin is seemingly beautiful, but a hideous monster in truth.

"The one seemed woman to the waist, and fair,/
But ended foul in many a scaly fold." (ii)
9. Name Satan's son in "Paradise Lost".

Answer: Death

Strangely enough, Satan had a relationship with his own daughter, Sin, and of that union begot a son, Death, who raped his mother...

Answer: True

It takes a while, but he forgives her, love overcomes all, and they face their doom together, strong in the face of disaster.
