Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these Sorry cards does NOT, under any circumstance, allow you to remove a pawn from your Start space?

Answer: 7

In order to move a pawn out of your Start space, you must draw either a 1 or a 2 card. The player removes a pawn and places it on the entry circle. If another player's pawn is on the entry circle, you send them back to Start. You forfeit your move if one of your own pawns is already on the entry circle. If you have drawn a 2, whether you start a pawn or move forward 2 spaces (even if you couldn't move), you draw again.
Sorry! cards involve the player taking a pawn from their Start space and placing it on the space of any opponent's pawn out on the track. That opponent's pawn is sent back to their Start space. You forfeit your move if there are no pawns on your Start or no opponent's pawns on any spaces.
Although 7 cards allow you to split your move between two pawns, they do not allow you to start a pawn.
2. Which of these cards is NOT in the Sorry game?

Answer: 9

The Sorry card deck contains no 6 or 9 cards. The 3 and 5 cards do not offer any special properties, but the 11 card allows the player to either move forward 11 spaces or switch places with any opponent.
3. What are the four colors of pawns in the Sorry game?

Answer: red, green, yellow, blue

This game is for two to four players. The four colors of pawns are red, green, yellow, and blue.
4. In Sorry, you slide when you land on a Slide space of your own color.

Answer: False

In order to slide on a Slide space, you must land on it by exact count and it must be of a different color than your pawn. If you land on a Slide space of your own color, you do not slide; you merely stay on the triangle. Be careful when using Slide spaces, though: you hit all pawns in the way when you slide and send them back to Start, including your own.
5. Which color is green's partner in the team play outlined in the Sorry instructions?

Answer: Blue

In the team variation of the game, Red is always Yellow's partner, and Green is always Blue's. There is no Purple in the game.
6. It is possible to move a pawn forward four spaces in Sorry.

Answer: True

All 4 cards move a pawn backwards, although with the use of a 7 card, a player may move one pawn forward four spaces, and another pawn forward three spaces.
7. What is the special property of the 10 card in Sorry?

Answer: You may move a pawn either forward 10 spaces or backward 1 space

When you draw a 10 card, you have two options: moving forward 10 spaces or moving backward 1 space.
Switching places is an option on the 11 card.
Splitting moves is an option on the 7 card.
You draw again after you draw a 2 card.
8. In the 2009 edition of the game, do you have to move a pawn forward beyond the Safety Zone Entry Space?

Answer: No

Older editions of the game were greatly extended since players drawing 11 and 12 cards were required to move their pawn forward past the Safety Zone Entry Space. The new edition of the game restricts moving beyond that space.
9. A question about the Sorry board: what does it say on the board where the draw pile is placed?

Answer: Place Pack Here

In the center of the board, the deck is placed where the board is marked "Place Pack Here". Discarded cards are placed where the board is marked "Discard Here".
10. How does one win at Sorry?

Answer: By getting all four of their pawns into their Home first

The first player to get all four of their pawns into their color Home first wins the game. Drawing the most 12 cards does not help the player win, although it does help them move faster.
