Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In order to distract the family, what animal did Clark tell them he saw?

Answer: Deer

Clark and the family were on their way to get a Christmas tree. While they drove to their destination, Clark and Ellen sang Christmas songs. A truck pulled up behind the family vehicle and was riding their bumper. The truck driver sped up and passed Clark. This made Clark upset and he pulled up along side the truck. Clark said, "Look, kids, a deer," and as Ellen and the kids looked, Clark gave the truck driver an obscene gesture.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo reprised the roles from the first two movies. The children were played by entirely different actors which is the norm for the "Vacation" films.
2. What did Francis tell Ellen she had?

Answer: hemorrhoids

Clark and Ellen's parents all arrived at the same time. As soon as Clark opened the door, chaos ensued. Clark Wilhelm Griswold, Sr and Art Smith were already arguing over park spots. Nora Griswold greeted Clark with a little game they played when Clark was younger. Francis Smith told her daughter she had hemorrhoids. Ellen was trying to keep a straight face when Francis told her about her condition. This scene set the tone for the whole movie.

Doris Roberts played the role of Francis Smith. For most of the movie, she had a drink in her hand and an insult ready for Clark. When Clark first tried to light the exterior Christmas lights and failed, Francis gave a drunken giggle. She also made a crude comment in regards to wasting money at Clark's expense.

Doris Roberts is probably best known for her role as Marie Barone from the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond". She won four Emmys for that role and was nominated seven times. She also starred in the short lived sitcom "Angie". This is the first role I actually remember seeing her in. It was a good show, but got canceled after 36 episodes.
3. What did Nora do with her turkey at the family dinner?

Answer: Nora stirred the turkey in water to add some moisture.

Clark was get ready to carve the turkey at the dinner table. He complimented Catherine on how good the bird looked. Clark started to carve the turkey and it popped open and there was nothing there but steam and bones. The turkey was left in the open too long and all the meat had dried up. Nora took her turkey and swirled it around in the water to try to add some moisture. Ellen pretended like she was eating the turkey, when she was actually flinging it over her shoulder. As we saw around the table, everyone was having trouble eating the bird.

Diane Ladd played Nora Griswold. She was Clark's doting mother and seemed to think that Clark could do no wrong. Diane Ladd is the mother to Laura Dern. Diane has starred in many movies, including "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" in which she played the part of Flo.
4. What dessert did the family enjoy after dinner?

Answer: cheesecake

Clark sat and watched as his parents were holding each other and smiling. Everyone around the table seemed to be enjoying dessert. It was the quiet before the storm, so to speak. As Clark ate his cheesecake, we saw a flash come from the living room. Uncle Lewis had ignited the Christmas tree. Clark asked Lewis what happened and as Lewis turned around, Clark saw that Lewis was on fire.

This was the last straw for Clark and he went crazy. He went out and cut down the neighbor's tree to use as their Christmas tree.
5. What were Nora and Frances making while their husbands were sleeping?

Answer: a gingerbread house

The two wives were making the gingerbread house while their husbands snored away. They were all in the living room and Francis kept turning up the volume on the television to block out the snoring. Francis had a drink in one hand and a cigarette in another. She was not really helping as much as Nora. Nora kept fanning the air because of Francis's cigarette smoke.
6. What heavy metal group was on the poster in Audrey Griswold's room?

Answer: Guns N' Roses

Audrey was laying on her bed in her room reading a magazine. We saw the poster of the band on her wall directly behind Audrey. As Audrey was reading the magazine, the front doorbell rang. Audrey was not too happy about her grandparents staying with them. She even asked her mom if it would be indecent to ask them to stay at a hotel. She told her mom that her grandfather answered the phone and told Audrey's friend she was in the bathroom.

Juliette Lewis played the role of Audrey Griswold. The role was first played by Dana Barron and then Dana Hill. Juliette Lewis has starred in one of my all time favorite movies, "The Other Sister", in which she played Carla Tate, a mentally challenged girl.
7. What was NOT one of the reasons Rusty Griswold gave his dad for not helping check the lights?

Answer: Rusty told his dad he had to check his investment portfolio.

Clark had called the whole family out to witness the lighting of the house. He plugged in the lights and nothing happened. Francis and Arthur, Ellen's parents, were both amused that nothing happened. Clark asked Rusty to help him check the lights and Rusty then started rambling off all these excuses. Clark stayed up late that night working on the lights. Several days later, Ellen realized what the problem was and switched on the power to the lights. Clark went to each family member and was expressing his joy over the lights working. Clark came to Eddie and Catherine and then realized that they were there.
8. While in Walmart, Clark put light bulbs in his cart. What happened to the light bulbs?

Answer: Eddie put a bag of dog food on the bulbs and crushed them.

Clark and Eddie were shopping in Walmart and Eddie kept getting things for the dog. Clark picked up a package of light bulbs and Eddie dropped a large bag of dog food on them. The funny part of this was Eddie had no money, but kept adding dog products to the cart. Clark told Eddie he and Ellen wanted to help give the kids a good Christmas.

At first, Eddie said he couldn't let him do that, but then he caved. Eddie had a list prepared for Clark already. He told Clark, if at all possible, he wanted Clark to get himself something nice from Eddie.

It was really nice of Eddie to think of Clark that way, especially when Clark was paying.
9. What magazine was Clark reading while in bed with Ellen?

Answer: People

Clark and Ellen were lying in bed reading magazines. Clark was reading "People" magazine and talking to Ellen. Ellen told Clark her parents had decided to come for Christmas too. Clark and Ellen already knew Clark's parents were coming. Clark was talking and trying to turn the pages of the magazine, but his fingers were sticking to the pages. Clark still had a great deal of sap on his hand from the Christmas tree. Ellen was trying to convince Clark not to get too excited and overdo things. Clark asked Ellen when he had ever done that. Ellen started going off on all the times Clark had overdone things. Clark got frustrated by this and tried to turn off the light, but his hand got stuck on it.

As Clark was going to sleep, Ellen was still naming off unsuccessful events.
10. What happened to Todd at the end of the movie?

Answer: Margo punched him and knocked him over their couch.

Todd and Margo had just had a tree crash through their window as they were eating dinner. Ironically, before the tree crashed through the window, they were talking about possibly getting a tree. Margo had enough of Clark and told Todd to go over there and take care of it. Todd didn't go over there, but Margo did. Just as Margo rang the doorbell, the squirrel and Snots came running out.

They both landed on a horrified Margo. When Margo came back to the house, her dress was torn and she was messed up. Todd asked her what happened and she punched him in the face. Margo hit Todd so hard that he fell over the couch.
