Bruce Lee, the creator of "Jeet Kune do" was born as "Lee Jun Fan" on November 27, 1940 in San Francisco. His parents went to San Francisco in December 1939, as his father, who was a renowned Cantonese opera artist, went there to participate in an international opera show. They returned to Hong Kong in 1941, where he spent most of his teenage years.
When he was about 13 years old, he started martial art training under Wing Chun master, Ip Man aka Yip Man. At the age of 18, he returned to U.S. with very little money in his pocket. About one year later, he set up his first martial art school in Seattle and also created his own style of martial art.
In the U.S, he made some TV series appearances including playing Kato in "Green Hornet" in 1966. In the early 1970s, he retuned to Hong Kong at the invitation of the local film makers. From 1971 to 1973, he played a lead role in five films which created several box office records in Asia. He died mysteriously (at the time) at age 32 before finishing his last film "Game of Death".
