WWF Wrestlers' Real Names Trivia Quiz
This quiz asks you to match the name of ten wrestlers who were once a part of WWF to their real-life names. Can you figure out all of them? Good luck! This is a renovated/adopted version of an old quiz by author Junior_Wonderful
Christopher Barrett Candito (1972-2005), also known as Chris Candido, was a professional wrestler for most of his adult life. Born in New Jersey, Candido wrestled in several local promotions as early as 1986. After winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1994, Candido joined the WWF in 1995. On his first year in the company, he wrestled as one half of the Bodydonnas with Skip (Tom Prichard). The tag team, which was accompanied to the ring by Sunny, won the WWF Tag Team Championship once. While at WCW, Candido also held the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.
Candido passed away in 2005 after developing pneumonia and suffering from complications of surgery. Earlier, Candido had suffered a severe injury in a TNA match, and it is rumored that a move during that match could have caused the issues that led to his death.
2. Hulk Hogan
Answer: Terry Gene Bollea
Terry Gene Bollea is perhaps one of the most famous professional wrestlers of all time. Born in Augusta, Georgia in 1953, Bollea got into wrestling in the late 1970s. He was signed by WWF in 1979, after promoters like the Brisco brothers and Vince J. McMahon (Vince K. McMahon's father) were captivated by his physique and charismatic personality. His second stint in WWF, between 1983 and 1993, would result in Hogan becoming a global phenomenon.
In WWF, Hogan won the Royal Rumble twice, held the WWF Championship on multiple occasions, and participated in legendary "Wrestlemania" matches, such as the main event of "Wrestlemania III" against Andre the Giant. Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
3. Chris Kanyon
Answer: Chris Klucsarits
Christopher Klucsarits (1970-2010) was born in Queens, New York and had an active athletic career while he was in high school. He first appeared in WWF in 1994, performing as a jobber who would easily lose matches against higher-profile superstars. After spending some time in WCW (where he temporarily went by the name Mortis and held the WCW World Tag Team Championship twice), Kanyon joined WWF in 2001 during "The Alliance" storyline.
Unfortunately, Kanyon's time in WWF was marked by several injuries that didn't allow him to participate in WWF high-profile matches, ultimately leading to his retirement in 2004. Kanyon suffered from bipolar disorder and had admitted in media interviews that he once attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. Sadly, Klucsarits committed suicide in 2010 by overdosing on antidepressants.
4. Ahmed Johnson
Answer: Anthony Norris
Anthony Norris was born in Kokomo, Indiana in 1963. He participated in many competitive sports while he was growing up and was at one time a member of the U.S. Armed Forces. He joined the WWF in 1995, mainly competing under the name Ahmed Johnson. He also made history in 1996 by becoming the first African-American to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Norris left WWF in 1999, and more than 20 years later, revealed that perceived racism was one reason why he decided to leave.
Throughout his career, Norris also performed as Big T and Night Breeder. While he was at WCW, he feuded with the Harlem Heat tag team made of Booker T and Stevie Ray.
5. Andre the Giant
Answer: Rene Roussimoff
Andre Rene Roussimoff (1946-1993) was born in Coulommiers, France. He was born with a condition called gigantism, which means that his body produced too many growth hormones that caused him to grow significantly taller than other people his age. He started his wrestling career in 1964, and officially joined WWF in 1984. He became one of the most famous wrestlers of his time, especially given his rivalry with Hulk Hogan and the memorable "Wrestlemania III" match between the two legends.
Roussimoff died in 1993 of heart failure, while he was staying in a hotel in Paris. He was the first-ever inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame in that same year. At WrestleMania XXX, a new battle royal match called the "Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal", was announced.
6. The Rock
Answer: Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne Johnson is perhaps one of the most recognized names in professional wrestling, as well as in the movie industry. Born Dwayne Douglas Johnson in 1972, he had an early introduction to the world of professional wrestling because his father was Rocky Johnson. Dwayne studied at the University of Miami and played in their football team between 1990 and 1994. He tried to play professional football, but didn't succeed and began his professional wrestling career in 1996.
With the WWF (and then WWE), The Rock became one of the most successful superstars in history. He is a multiple-time winner of the WWF/WWE Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the WWF Tag Team Championship. He also won the 2000 Royal Rumble. Since his retirement from wrestling (though he has returned several times to WWE), he also went on to appear in many prominent films, including "The Mummy Returns" and in the "Fast & Furious" franchise.
7. D'Lo Brown
Answer: Accie Julius Connor
Accie Julius Connor was born in 1970 in Burlington, New Jersey. He wrestled in several promotions in the mid-1990s and officially joined the WWF in 1997 as a member of the Nation of Domination stable. One of Brown's most important achievements in his career was holding the WWF European Championship and WWF Intercontinental Championship at the same time in 1998.
He was fired from WWE in 2003, and briefly returned in 2009. He has wrestled for multiple other promotions including TNA and AJPW.
8. Crush
Answer: Brian Adams
Brian Keith Adams (1964-2007) was a professional wrestler who was born and raised in Hawaii. Trained by the legendary Antonio Inoki, Adams competed in several American and Japanese promotions before briefly joining the WWF in 1990, and again in 1992. In this second stint in Vince McMahon's company, he used the ring name Crush.
He won the WWF World Tag Team Championship once, but was perhaps better known for his temporary alliances with Mr. Fuji and the Nation of Domination. Adams died in 2007 due to a deadly combination of medications.
9. Yokozuna
Answer: Agatupu Rodney Anoaʻi
Agatupu Rodney Anoaʻi (1966-2000) was born in San Francisco, California and belonged to the Samoan Anoa'i family. Because he was born into this legendary family, he began training from a very early age. He debuted in 1992 and shortly after joining the promotion, he was given the gimmick of a Japanese Sumo wrestler called Yokozuna. He accomplished several important feats in his time in WWF, such as winning the WWF Championship and the WWF Tag Team Championship two times each, and winning the 1993 Royal Rumble. He is remembered for his iconic matches against Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and The Undertaker.
Anoa'i died at the early age of 34 from pulmonary edema.
10. Lex Luger
Answer: Lawrence Wendell Pfohl
Lawrence Wendell Pfohl was born in 1958 in Buffalo, New York. A talented football player in high school and college, Pfohl first wrestled in the professional arena in 1985 for NWA. Already competing as Lex Luger, he joined WWF in 1993 and participated in high-profile feuds with Bret Hart and Tatanka.
He was the co-winner of the 1994 Royal Rumble match with Bret Hart, because they both fell over the top rope and touched the ground at the same time. Luger wrestled in several other promotions before his retirement from in-ring action.
He rejoined WWE in 2011 in a behind-the-scenes role assisting with the company's Wellness Policy.
