Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Do frogs have a tail?

Answer: No

Frogs are recognized by their short bodies, long hind legs, webbed fingers/toes, and the absence of a tail. They also have huge eyes that stick out on the top of their heads.
2. Where do some toads have poison glands?

Answer: On their head behind the eyes

These are called parotoid glands, and all toads have them behind their eyes. These poison in them is usually only mildly toxic, and will only kill smaller animals.
3. What diet do adult frogs mainly follow?

Answer: Carnivorous

Frogs eat mainly arthropods, annelids and gastropods. They vary from this diet only when they have to. Carnivores eat meat, herbivores eat plants and omnivores eat both. I made up megavores!
4. Are frogs cold-blooded?

Answer: Yes

Cold-blooded means that that an animal's body temperature changes with its surroundings. Warm blooded animals (like humans) maintain a constant body temperature.
5. What color are dead frogs' eggs?

Answer: White

They turn white and become opaque (impossible to see through) if they die. Frogs usually lay a lot of eggs because there are many dangers, and there is a good chance that a lot of eggs will die.
6. Which of the following choices is the most likely habitat for frogs?

Answer: Marshes/swamps

They live in swamps or marshes because it is close to water, and is wet. Frogs can survive in water or land, but they must keep their skin wet to prevent it from drying out. Some amphibians live in dry areas, and live underground until it rains enough for them to move around comfortably again.
7. What continent can frogs not be found on?

Answer: Antarctica

It is too cold in Antarctica. There are no swamps or marshes, and there is not always water available to them. They are found on every other continent in the world.
8. Where on a frog are the nostrils located?

Answer: Top of head

This is so that they can breathe while the rest of their body is underwater. They have big eyes near the nostrils so they can look around while underwater.
9. Frogs must hide from predators, because they are not very good at camouflage.

Answer: False

Frogs rely on camouflage to protect themselves. Each frog has colors similar to the colors of their environment, making them very hard to see if they don't want to be seen.
10. What is a group of frogs called?

Answer: Army

A pack is the name for a group of wolves. A school is a group of fish, and a flock is a group of birds, such as pigeons. Thanks for taking my quiz!
