Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
The movie "The Lion King" was released in 1994, the first Disney animated feature to be an original story. The stage musical began in 1997, becoming one of Broadway's most successful musicals. There are several differences between the movie and theater versions. One is that the character Rafiki was changed from a male to female role in the play when director Julie Taymor noticed there was no female character playing a leading role.
The dialogue between Mufasa and his young son Simba takes place early in the play, setting the stage for the events that happen later. Mufasa, in preparing his son for his future role as king, teaches his son about leadership, the interconnectedness of life, community and the reality of death. Mufasa in his parenting role displays strength, wisdom, and compassion in dealing with his young cub.
The lessons Mufasa taught Simba stayed with his son. Mufasa, through his wise and compassionate words, left a legacy that changed the Pride Lands long after his death. After some struggles, Simba returns to the lessons learned from his father, embraces his destiny, and returns balance and prosperity to the kingdom. Mufasa teaches us that even after we are gone, we can make a difference and have a positive influence on future generations.
