Laurell K. Hamilton's "Blue Moon" is one of my favorite Anita Blake books, and I was amazed that there were no quizzes about it. So I made one. I hope you enjoy it.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what American state does most of this book take place?

Answer: Tennessee

Although Anita and company live in St. Louis, Missouri, this is one of the books where almost the entire story takes place in a different state. Another is "Obsidian Butterfly."
2. Which species of trolls is Richard studying?

Answer: Lesser Smokey Mountain Troll

The Lesser Smokey Mountain Troll is the second smallest troll in North America. The Greater Smokey Mountain Troll is extinct. It was purposely destroyed, mostly because it liked to pull up large trees and beat people to death with them.
3. What is the name of the troll preservation society mentioned in this book?

Answer: Peter's Friends

Barkley was the minister who made friends with Peter the troll, but the society is named after Peter, who was a North American Cave Troll.
4. Name the vampire that is called Master of the City in the area where "Blue Moon" takes place.

Answer: Colin

Colin is a rare vampire in that he allowed his second-in-command to make many of the vampires in his territory. Unlike many master vampires, who hoard their power, he says that his second and he are a better ruler of the city together than either would be on their own.
5. When Nathaniel is poisoned by the rotting-vampires, Asher and Damian save him by themselves, and neither of them suffer any consequences.

Answer: false

Asher and Damian do save Nathaniel themselves, but Damian is poisoned by it, and would have died if Anita hadn't saved him. This is one of the first times we hear the term "pomme de sang" used for blood donors, and learn that the vampire who feeds from one is supposed to protect him or her.
6. When Anita, with Raina's help, ritually separates herself from Richard at the lupanar, and dares him to claim her again if he can, Marianne says there is a title among the lukoi for the position she has just taken. In that instant no longer lupa, what is Anita?

Answer: Frejya

Skoll and Hati are the wolves that chase the sun and the moon in Norse mythology, and are the two enforcers in a pack. Frigga to my knowledge is not a name along the lukoi, although she was the wife of Odin and one of the most important goddesses. Frejya was a major fertility goddess, as well as in charge of both love and war, and a perfect choice to give her name to the title Anita takes.
7. What does Frank Niley believe is buried on the land the trolls are currently inhabiting, causing him to risk anything to acquire the land?

Answer: Lance that pierced Christ's side

Most commonly known as either the Holy Lance or the Spear of Destiny, there are currently several spears in various places, including one in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, that people believe to be the actual spear. The Roman Catholic Church, however, has never made a claim as to its authenticity.
8. Richard and Anita sleep together for the first time in this book, and they agree to start dating again.

Answer: true

Although they do agree to continue dating and sleeping together, they aren't monogamous, as Anita is still with Jean-Claude, and Richard says if she dates other people then he will too.
9. When Anita passes the circle at the end to save Charlotte, she recites Christian scripture to keep the demon at bay. What does she recite?

Answer: Part of the Christmas story from Luke

She remarks that the Lord's Prayer would have been a good thing to say, but she blanked and couldn't remember how it started. Earlier in the book, Richard had recited the passage from Isaiah when he felt evil roll off Linus.
10. As usually happens in Anita novels, the last chapter ties up loose ends from the book, as well as giving us a picture of what happened after the main plot ended. What extraordinary thing do we learn?

Answer: Anita left the guys for three months

Anita felt smothered by the power of the triumvirate, and had to learn how to control her own power before dealing with the boys again. Although she did manage to get most of her stuff under control, the consequences of leaving them and all their people for that long would haunt her for the next several books.
