2. "What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play. Life is a ___, old chum, come to the ___". Fill in the blank of these lyrics, also given to the namesake of the song and musical movie they come from.

Answer: Cabaret

'Cabaret', released in 1972, was directed by Bob Fosse of 'All That Jazz' and 'Chicago' fame. Liza Minelli, playing Sally Bowles, rousingly sings this bittersweet song in a club. Whilst the song is instrumentally upbeat with a snappy pace, its lyrics are more sombre in detailing the demise of a performing friend to drugs, and in reminding us that we only get one life to live -- and live it, we should.

4. What fashion fad did the 1983 film "Flashdance" make popular?

Answer: Legwarmers

Worn by dancers in tights to keep their lower legs warm and prevent cramping, the movie "Flashdance", combined with the aerobics craze of the 1980s, skyrocketed legwarmers to a must-have fashion item for girls and young women. They were even worn over jeans! The fad for the slouchy, stretchy items did not last very long in mainstream fashion, but dancers can still be seen wearing them.

8. In 1995 the great English actor Nigel Hawthorne was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor on account of his portrayal of which British king - the arch-enemy of the American colonies?

Answer: George III

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, and released at the end of 1994, "The Madness of King George" was adapted by Alan Bennett from his own 1991 play, "The Madness of George III". As the title implies, the film shows the gradual decline of the English king's mental health, mainly focusing on the period between 1788 and 1789, when George III's relationship with his eldest son and heir (the future George IV) was also deteriorating. The film - whose cast included, besides Nigel Hawthorne in the title role, Helen Mirren, Ian Holm and Rupert Everett - was both a critical and a commercial success. Though the film won only one of the four Academy Awards for which it had been nominated (Best Art Direction), it won BAFTA's Best British Film award, and Hawthorne won as Best Actor in a Leading Role. Helen Mirren won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of George III's queen, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The remaining English kings have all been featured in various films.
