Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the movie, what does Goodkat (Bruce Willis) say he is in town for?

Answer: A Kansas City Shuffle

The term Kansas City Shuffle refers to a type of con game using misdirection. The term was coined in the 1926 song "The Kansas City Shuffle" by Bennie Moten. The song is played during the ending credits to the movie.
2. What is the nickname of the Rabbi's (Sir Ben Kingsley) son Yitzchok?

Answer: The Fairy

In one of the funnier exchanges of the movie, upon hearing that Yitzchok is a "fairy" he responds, "What, he's got wings... he flies around sprinkling magic dust on people?"
3. Who starts the war between the Boss and the Rabbi and why?

Answer: The Rabbi starts the war because the Boss steals the spotlight on their partnership

The Rabbi is jealous because people start to look to the Boss as the man in charge, when it is supposed to be a partnership. He goes after the Boss and his family in the middle of the night, starting the long time war.
4. What is Slevin's response to the Boss's threat of "I suppose I don't need to say anything as trite and cliché as 'go to the police and you're a dead man'"?

Answer: I think you just did

This exchange occurs right after Slevin meets the Boss for the first time. The Boss has just finished telling Slevin he must kill Yitzchok, and is subtly threatening him not to go to the authorities.
5. What does Slevin tell Lindsey (Lucy Liu) is the reason he doesn't seem worried about his situation?

Answer: He has ataraxia

Slevin goes on to explain that ataraxia is "...a condition characterized by freedom from worry or any other pre-occupation really." Interesting note: In the subtitles of the UK version of this movie, the word ataraxia actually read "anarexia", a word of completely different meaning.
6. What is the name of the person whose apartment Slevin is staying in?

Answer: Nick Fisher

Slevin's problems in this movie spur from everyone thinking he is Nick Fisher who owes them money. We find out at the end of the movie that Nick Fisher is the person Goodkat is talking to (and eventually kills) at the airport in the beginning.
7. What is Slevin's response when Lindsey says he reminds her of James Bond?

Answer: That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me

His immediate response to this is "That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me". Later on in the movie he comments that there is only one true James Bond and asks which one she was referring to.
8. Which is NOT a name of one of the henchmen working for either the Boss or the Rabbi?

Answer: Zach

Sloe and Elvis work for the Boss, Saul works for the Rabbi. Sloe and Elvis are the two who first come for Slevin, whom we later learn have been killed. Saul works for the Rabbi along with "The Mute", and we later see these two shot through the windshield of their car.
9. What does Slevin say "Kelevra" (his last name) means?

Answer: Bad dog

This name goes hand in hand with "Goodkat". He reveals this information to Detective Brikowski right before he shoots him. It is also learned during this scene that Detective Brikowski used to owe money to the Boss and the Rabbi and they had him kill Slevin's mother.
10. What Hitchcock film does the Rabbi reference in this movie?

Answer: North by Northwest

Once the Rabbi realizes Slevin is not Nick Fisher, he delves into a speech about "North by Northwest", a movie which is also about mistaken identity. It was released in 1959 and stars Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint, both of whom are referenced in this movie.
