His most famous axe is a floral patterned black and white 1953 Fender Broadcaster... an early version of the model that was later renamed Telecaster.

Waylon was also the bass player for Buddy Holly and famously traded places with him taking the bus instead of the plane to the next show..avoiding the fatal plane crash that killed Holly as well as Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens.
