Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
The first four correct answers are the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The term Gospel means "good news" and stems from these four books covering the teachings of Jesus Christ. The fifth New Testament book is the Acts of the Apostles which covers the early church after Christ's death and resurrection. Acts is written by Luke and picks up where he leaves off. The Acts of the Apostles introduces the reader to Paul who became a critical leader in the early church.
Most of the remaining books of the New Testament are epistles, with Romans, Galatians, Titus, and Philemon being attributed to Paul. Many of these letters give invaluable insight into the early church as Paul gives encouragement and instruction to the new congregations. It is unknown who wrote the letter to the Hebrews, while James and Jude are thought to be apostles and possibly brothers to Jesus.
As for the wrong answers, Joshua is about the conquest of the Israelites after they finished wandering in the desert. Ruth is one of the two books in the Old Testament named after a female. Ruth is the great-grandmother of King David. Ezra was a scribe who tells about the first rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. Nehemiah, Hosea, Joel, Amos, and Obadiah are all prophets who tried to instruct the Jewish nation on what God wanted or would do if the people did not repent and turn to the Lord.
