Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One song that is absolutely essential to completing this challenge is never formally introduced through the plot. Indeed, you'll want to play it as soon as you start your cycle. A variation of the first song Link learns, its name is self-explanatory as to its purpose. What is this tune you'll play as soon as you start your cycle to give yourself a fighting chance in the race against time?

Answer: Inverted Song of Time

There are certain instances in which the player may actually want to revert the flow of time back to normal temporarily to speed up arduous, necessary waits. Following Darmani up to his grave can feel like waiting behind a slow car while being in the rush of a lifetime! Just be sure to slow it back down immediately after.
2. Day 1 is almost without question is on a strict deadline to reach a certain NPC to trigger a specific event. Link splits from each of the first two temples after acquiring the items to meet them, rushing to complete a trial that unlocks the area in which we meet them. Which NPC must Link interact with before nightfall to have any hope of completing this run in one cycle?

Answer: Romani

Simply completing Romani's challenge of taking down her "homemade aliens" (just some balloons) will grant us access to Epona who is essential in not only entering the latter two regions of Termina, but completing a sidequest for the required Garo's Mask.
3. Another key item needed by Link to reach Snowhead is a required purchase. Which item can be a reach chore to purchase from Clock Town when virtually all of our Day One efforts are concentrated in running around outside of the game's hub city?

Answer: Bomb Bag

Assuming the player did not stock up on Rupees during the Deku Cycle (which many true one-cycle challenges don't allow), the player must scrounge up 50 Rupees with limited resources. Luckily, there is a 100-Rupee chest just above the shooting gallery or - if the player is more gutsy - a Red Rupees in plain sight on the Woodfall Courtyard. Opting for the latter, though much quicker, will require additional strategy and tweaks as to obtaining the other 30 Rupees.
4. With a well-placed Hookshot target, Link can ascend from the valley of Ikana Canyon to a ledge just beneath the Owl Statue. Link's ability to do makes it entirely possible to access all of Ikana without going through the trouble of obtaining what?

Answer: Ice Arrows

The traditional method for the player reaching aforementioned area near Pamela's house is freezing the Octoroks nearby. However, the player has a very small area in which they reach the ledge without judging to the platform guarded by Octoroks. Whether or not taking advantage of this is a glitch is a matter of debate, but whether it saves time is not.
5. Without the Goron Mask, Link is limited in what he can do upon reaching Snowhead. Which of these can Link do without any additional key items or transformations obtained there?

Answer: Enter the shrine

Interestingly, if luckily, Link can speak to the watchman Goron standing above the shrine in Deku or Human form to enter. They would be wise to do so upon reaching the area; The earlier they can prompt the Goron Elder to tell the player the beginning of the Goron Lullaby the better, as they're on the way to getting the Lens of Truth regardless.
6. Which of these "ranch-related" sidequests is essential to completing the game?

Answer: Defeating the Gorman brother in a horse race

By defeating the Gorman Brothers, the player earns the Garo Mask, which prompt the spirit to spawn a plant used to reach the main hub of Ikana. While the Gibdo Mask can serve the same purpose, it is essentially rendered moot by the fact that the player cannot obtain it until after entering Ikana - Much in the same way wearing Gorman's Mask (obtained in the Milk Bar) deters the thieves from raiding the milk wagon, something the player must prevent in order to access - you guessed it - the Milk Bar!
7. For which of these areas does Link save a substantial amount of travel time in the quest to unlock the dungeon if he possesses three or more bottles?

Answer: Great Bay

With four Zora Eggs in the Gerudo Thieves' Hideout and three in the Snakes' Den, four bottles is optimal but some of the games' bottles in entail long sidequests to obtain. The bottles given by Dampe and Madame Aroma we can rule out completely since they're only available on Night Three - the latter after completing virtually all of the dreaded Kafei-Anju sidequest. So aside from the "freebie" potion bottle we acquire in Southern Swamp, the game gives us what we need in the other regions we've explored: Romani Ranch (saving the Ranch from Aliens), Snowhead (winning a race against other Gorons), and Great Bay (winning a race against other Z - err, against Beavers..)
8. Bombs are one essential items Link must give to the Gibdos to progress Beneath the Well. The other required items are less likely for the player to be carrying. Which of these is not one of the items required for the Link to obtain from outside of the well to reach the Mirror Shield room?

Answer: Bugs

While bugs are needed, we can get them from inside the Bottom of the Well as we progress, so no detour is required. Make sure you purchased five extra Beans from the Bean Salesman. If you skipped the Bean Salesman entirely by glitching up to the imprisoned monkey, you'll face the issue of returning all the way back to said grotto, as the Deku will not sell them to you without first talking to him.

Besides boasting some lovely albeit not-needed Bugs and a smelly mushroom, the Stock Pot Inn is an easy place to grab the Fish. Finally, the player should have purchased the Milk from the Gorman brothers while racing them. If not, playing Epona's Song to some cows at Romani's will work too.
9. Even small optimizations will be key in helping Link save key minutes. One of these is following the path in the Woods of Mystery to the injured witch without following the monkey. There are different routes every day, but this will invariably be done on Day One. What route will Link take?

Answer: Left, right, right, straight, left, left

While the Red Potion is immediately available to us at the Trading Post at the start of the cycle, we will be lacking a bottle at that point. It is, however, likely we'll purchase one from there later on to obtain the Stone Mask from Shiro and make the Pirate's Fortress a lot less stressful.
10. Should the player have some time to spare, going out of their way to acquire the Stray Fairies in temples to exchange for their respective rewards may prove worthwhile, especially given the tall order of taking down Majora with - more than likely - a standard sword and no other containers other than those reward from defeating bosses. Even defeating the boss Woldworm in Stone Tower will a paltry amount of magic can prove troublesome. Later reconned to a different location in the "Majora's Mask 3D", collecting all Stray Fairies from which temple will award double magic in the original?

Answer: Snowhead

Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay, and Ikana reward the player with the Magic Spin Attack, an extended Magic Meter, Enhanced Defense, and the Great Fairy's Sword, respectively. There is a strong case to be made for obtaining the latter three on a single-cycle playthrough if at all possible.

While double defense is particularly beneficial for obvious reason, double magic is also a great boon in that it will allow ample time to defeat Moldworm with the Giant's Mask and plenty of fuel for Goron Rolling all over Termina.

The decision to move the Double Magic reward to the earlier temple of Woodfall was a quality-of-life changes as, playing casually, many players struggled to conserve magic what with the heavy usage of it in new Snowhead items Fire Arrows and Lens of Truth, as well as the Goron Roll.
