Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Madhouse difficulty, Ethan needs which of these to save his progress?

Answer: Cassette Tape

Mimicking earlier "Resident Evil" games in this way, Ethan will need to rely on a finite amount of opportunities to save progress by utilizing Cassette Tapes at tape recorders (instead of Ink Ribbons at typewriters). Throughout the game there are just under thirty Cassette Tapes, so being frugal is of the utmost importance even if you locate all of them around the map. And again, this is only needed in Madhouse difficulty, unlocked after the game is completed once in Normal difficulty.

In Normal mode, Ethan can save a limitless amount at any tape recorder.
2. Beneath Guest House, which of these does Ethan need to free Mia from her cell?

Answer: Bolt Cutters

Though clearly not its intended use, the Bolt Cutters are probably one of the earliest innocuous and necessary items that Ethan picks up in the game as he requires them to let Mia out of the basement cell of the Guest House and kick off the lengthy escape that the game follows along.

He can also use this tool to open a locked wardrobe in the Guest House's main floor, using it to collect a spare fuse. The Bolt Cutters will take up two inventory slots, but they'll be removed from the inventory automatically before all that space is actually needed.
3. The clock in the Baker House's living room is missing which of these, found elsewhere in the building?

Answer: Pendulum

The Baker House is one of the "Resident Evil" hallmarks-- a map with numerous rooms and puzzles to navigate and solve. One of the earliest of these isn't far from where Ethan awakens-- the kitchen/dining room opens into a living room area that contains a grandfather clock.

It'll be missing a Pendulum, but this can be found in the Main Hall on another clock once he gains access. If he swaps clocks, he'll be able to access the White Dog Head emblem, the first key to getting out of the house once and for all.
4. Found in the crawlspace beneath the Old House, which of these allows you to access the Outhouse?

Answer: Crank

Though Ethan will witness this dead-end crawlspace first-hand when he watches one of Mia's video tapes, he'll be able to delve inside on his own when he makes his way through the secret passages of the Old House during his visit there. The Crank is seemingly useless, but it actually has significance throughout this offshoot building since it'll give access not only to better routes in the building, but raise the path to the Outhouse out back (whyever it was made inaccessible, of all rooms). Inside is the Crow Key, giving Ethan access to many rooms previously locked away in both houses.

The Crank comes back again, later on, when Ethan needs to head to the Boathouse. Useful item, that!
5. The Lantern in the Old House isn't used for light, at least not for you. Instead it opens a door upstairs, allowing you to collect which of these?

Answer: D-Series Arm

As Ethan makes his way through the Old House he'll eventually come across a door with a unique scale lock with one Lantern on one side. Unfortunately, the matching Lantern is in Marguerite's hand, and with her at the bottom of a pit nearby, having transformed into a mass of bugs, Ethan will need to hop in and retrieve it. Worse than that, by the time he checks into the pit, Marguerite will have reformed into a more grotesque creature and crawled off to the nearby Greenhouse.

Inside the rooms beyond the Lantern door, Ethan can locate the D-Series Arm, a necessary ingredient of the Serum.
fight Marguerite in the Greenhouse.
6. The Toy Axe that Ethan finds in the attic of the Baker House can be used to create which of these?

Answer: A number seven

Throughout the Baker House, Ethan will find several instances where pathways and secrets can be opened using uniquely-formed wooden blocks. To gain access, he needs to place the block in front of a shining light, then turn it to form the shape required to fill in an image. Just outside the house, hidden in some bushes, one of these puzzles will be waiting, and it won't expect a complex form.

Instead, Ethan will need to find a way to complete a simple sequence by filling in the number 7. The Toy Axe in the attic is perfect for this, and when placed properly in its spot, it'll unlock a chest containing a Stabilizer.
7. Which of these items is theoretically useless to Ethan when he plays Lucas' escape room activity?

Answer: Winding Key

There are a lot of useless items in the Testing Area's escape room, and if Ethan watches the 'Happy Birthday' Video that's found in the Baker House Attic, he'll be able to track exactly how much can go wrong it Lucas' game is followed perfectly. There are many items scattered around the escape rooms (a Dirty Telescope, a Straw Doll, a Dummy's Finger, a Balloon full of sharp objects including a Quill Pen...and on and on) but the only things that Ethan will need are the Candle (since it'll burn the rope on the door to the balloon room) and the Valve Handle (since it'll turn off the water and let him light the birthday cake). By watching the video, Ethan will gather that the door lock is 'LOSER' and skip all the more dangerous stuff.
8. Can Ethan utilize First Aid Spray in this game?

Answer: No

While Ethan can use Herbs, a "Resident Evil" classic item, and combine those Herbs with other items to make stronger healing items like the First Aid Med and Strong First Aid Med, the First Aid Spray, also seen in earlier games in the series, does not make a return here. Additionally, Herbs only come in one colour in this game-- there's no need to sort between them for stronger effects. Ethan can chew on the Herb alone to give a small bit of health, or combine with Chem Fluid to make better items.
9. The Antique Coins found around the game are needed to unlock which of these?

Answer: Birdcages

In both Easy and Normal Mode, Ethan will be able to locate eighteen innocuous Antique Coins from around the map, all of which can be used, technically, as currency to unlock special items that can be found in Zoe's trailer in front of the Baker House. The catch is that the items are locked away in a trio of ornate birdcages, and the only way to open them is by dropping the coins inside. For three coins you can get the Steroids; for five coins you can get the Stabilizer; for nine coins you can get the 44 Magnum.

If you don't get to the birdcages soon enough you'll have one last chance as you head into the Salt Mines. As well, in Madhouse Mode you can get thirty-three Antique Coins.
10. Throughout the game, Ethan can destroy Bobbleheads of which character?

Answer: Mr. Everywhere

There are twenty total Mr. Everywhere Bobbleheads in "Resident Evil 7", and you can hear and locate them in nearly every key location. The point is to destroy them all, and if you do you'll gain a freebie for all subsequent plays (and an achievement, of course). Specifically, they unlock the Walking Shoes, a helpful item that'll increase your walking speed.

They can be found in the inventory box in any safe room when you start up a new game.
