Once in New York City, "Spider-Man" came face-to-face with the unstoppable foe. "Spider-Man" almost died during one battle with Rhino, but was saved by Sandman in the nick of time.

Firelord first appeared in 1974 in the comic book, "Thor #225". "Spider-Man" defeated Firelord in "Amazing Spider-Man #270 (Vol. 1)" at a gas station during a two-part story. Captain America along with the Avengers show up at the end, and are amazed that the web-slinger defeated such a cosmic foe.

3. I am an offspring, yet not from birth. I am a spawn of a venomous man, but he is not my father. I began my life in prison, and spent quite a bit of time returning there. In the 1991 issue "Amazing Spider-Man #344", Cletus Kasady was a prisoner sharing the same cell as Eddie Brock, also known as Venom. When Venom escaped prison, part of the alien symbiote was left behind. In search of a host, the symbiote attached itself to Kasady, a psychopathic serial killer, creating the lethal symbiotic Carnage. Carnage fought "Spider-Man" many times, and each time he ended up back in prison, the same place he came from.

Hobgoblin, which appeared in "Spectacular Spider-Man #43" was a creation of Roderick Kingsley, in the 1980 issue. After he stole the Green Goblin's diaries, he was able to acquire the Goblin formula, then refined it and removed the portion that caused insanity.

In order to work behind the scenes, he brainwashed reporter Ned Leeds into donning the costume and working as his pawn. Leeds was murdered, and Jason Macendale (Jack O'Lantern) assumed the Hobgoblin identity. Afraid that Macendale would finger-point Kingsley as the real Hobgoblin, Kingsley murdered Macendale and took on the identity again. Betty Brant discovered the truth, and cleared the name of her late husband, Ned Leeds. Kingsley was imprisoned, but the Green Goblin was able to break him out of jail, in which he fled to the Caribbean for sanctuary.

Answer: J. Jonah Jameson

J. Jonah Jameson first appeared in 1963 as the publisher and owner of The Daily Bugle, a newspaper that has circulation throughout New York City. This first appearance took place in "Amazing Spider-Man #1". Jameson's hatred for "Spider-Man" is complex.

He has a high respect for law and order, but dispises vigilantes, especially if they hide their identities. To Jameson, true heroes are those who serve their country in uniform fighting for their country, or men and women who are police officers and firefighters.

Not those who wear masks and run around in costumes. Jameson sets out to destroy "Spider-Man" for no other reason than his deep-rooted hatred for vigilantes, and uses The Daily Bugle headlines as his weapon.

Answer: Chameleon

A burglar who killed Uncle Ben was Peter Parker's first foe in "Amazing Fantasy #15". Since the Burglar was only a petty thief, he is not considered a super villain in the comic books. The first super villain to come in contact with "Spider-Man" actually appeared months later in March of 1963.

In "Amazing Spider-Man #1", Chameleon was the first super villain to ever face "Spider-Man" in print. Chameleon and Kraven The Hunter are brothers fathered by the same man. Chameleon was born with the name Dmitri Kravinoff Smerdyakov.

He was the illegitimate son of his father's household servant lady who had an affair with his father. Chameleon (Dmitri) was a master of disguises, and often tried to pretend to be "Spider-Man". He even faked his own death at one time.

In one story, Chameleon captured and drugged "Spider-Man", then unmasked him. Chameleon learned that Peter Parker was "Spider-Man". Unfortunately for Dmitri, he went certifiably insane, and his memory of who "Spider-Man" really is has been clouded over with a haze of dementia.

7. You're never too old to start a life of crime. Just ask me! I'm as old as the hills, but I can soar like a bird. I'm a brilliant old man and founding member of "The Sinister Six". My suit has wings that I created myself, to help me fly toward my target, and swoop in on the cash. I first appeared in "Amazing Spider-Man #2" in 1963. Who am I?

Answer: Vulture

Vulture made his first appearance in "Amazing Spider-Man #2" in 1963. Nearing the age of retirement, Adrian Toomes, was a brilliant engineer and inventor who was working on a harness that would allow a man to fly. After discovering that his partner was robbing the firm, he confronted the thief, but was expelled from the company because of papers he had signed years earlier.

In revenge, he completed the harness then returned to the headquarters to destroy it. During the destruction, he discovered a cache of cash hidden in his ex-partner's office. Stealing the money, and reeling in the thrill of the theft, he embarked on a life of theft and other criminal activity disguised as Vulture.

8. I have the streets under my power, yet I am not a politician. I'm a genius, a businessman, and a rather large fellow. But my tummy's not fat, its pure muscle, you see! Wilson Fisk first appeared in "Amazing Spider-Man #50" in 1967 as Kingpin, a powerful crimelord who keeps his criminal activities a secret posing as a legitimate businessman. Skilled in hand-to-hand combat, this large man is made of pure muscle. Devoted to his wife, his life of crime almost came to a complete stop when she tried to force him to choose between her or his criminal activities.

Their marriage is quite tempered when it comes to their son, Richard Fisk (The Rose). His criminal involvement runs deep in the heart of the underworld, and often finds himself face-to-face with "Spider-Man" and other Marvel heroes.

9. I served my country in war as a medic, but I returned from the battlefield amputated and ruined. My career was gone, all I had left was my knowledge. I was determined to create a serum that would regrow my surgeon hand. My experiment succeeded and my arm did grow back...it was not human, but a reptilian in fact! Beginning in 1963, Lizard has been both a friend and foe to "Spider-Man". The story of the Lizard began in "Amazing Spider-Man #6". Curt Connors, a brilliant surgeon and biologist, was inspired by a reptile's ability to regenerate lost limbs. He set out to create a serum that would replicate the molecular biology and DNA of reptiles in order to manipulate the human body into reproducing limbs.

When he tested the serum on himself, his arm grew back, but it was in reptilian form. Eventually the reptilian growth turned his entire being into a walking reptile that was dubbed "The Lizard".

10. I was a private investigator, but now I am not. Before I met Jameson I had a clear head, but now I'm insane. He paid me good money to be his personal lab rat, and gave me a green suit with a stinging lethal tail. They say my name was Gargan, but I don't remember that. All I can remember is revenge, not only on that spider, but on Jameson as well. I first appeared in "Amazing Spider-Man #20" in 1965. Who am I?

Answer: Scorpion

The story of Scorpion began in the issue "Amazing Spider-Man #20" in 1965. MacDonald Gargan was hired by Jameson to investigate how Peter Parker was able to get such great pictures of "Spider-Man" in action. Gargan had a passion for money, and when Jameson offered him a price to be a test subject for a scientific project, Gargan jumped at the chance. Dr. Stillwell performed the test on Gargan, transforming him into Scorpion. One of the side effects of the experiment was the slow destruction of the mind.

In hopes to create a serum that would reverse the effects of the test, Stillwell lost his life when he fell from a building. And gone with Sillwell's life was any hope for Gargan's sanity. Scorpion became filled with hate, not only for "Spider-Man" who had defeated him numerous times, but a hatred for Jameson for creating him.

He continues to take his place in the criminal world, looking forward to each chance he gets to seek revenge on "Spider-Man" and Jameson.
