Pope earned a reputation early-on as an outsider, boycotting the Junos (Canada's answer to the Grammys) and writing songs that raised the ire of censors for their racy content. Sadly, however, she too fell for the dark side in the 80s, appearing in a 1983 Pepsi ad, of all things.

The Crew-Cuts met at St. Michaels Choir School in Toronto in the late 1940s. They formed a group and had multiple songs on the Billboard charts over the years, but "Sha-Boom" was the only one to make it to #1. Besides being a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in the 1950s, "Sha-Boom" by the Crew-Cuts made it into later pop culture with its appearances on "Happy Days" in the 70s, as well as in the movie "Clue" in 1985.
