Although all of these were lead singles from their albums (or, in the case of "The Greatest Song I Ever Heard", a soundtrack), "A Million Ways" was the first to come off the "Oh No" album, appearing in 2005 (with the disc release) and charting in the UK, but not North America. The video was particularly interesting, especially since it started the group's long-running tradition of single-take music videos. In this one, the four members of the band sang and danced while lip-synching the lyrics. The entire thing was shot in Damian Kulash's backyard by his sister, Trish Sie, who would later direct a number of the band's videos including "White Knuckles" and "Skyscrapers", both from the "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" album.

The two original band members met over a game of Ping Pong, in which Damian was victorious. After the camp was over, they remained in contact, sending each other mixtapes. They would meet OK Go's original lead guitarist/keyboardist Andy Duncan in high school and drummer Dan Konopka in college. The band officially formed in 1998.

While Andy Duncan performed the guitar and background vocals on the tracks for "Oh No" (and the band's eponymous first album), he departed from the group in 2005 shortly after the sophomore disc's release. To fill the void left over, the band brought on a new Andy-- Andy Ross-- who had begun with his own band, Secret Dakota Ring, before settling into his new role in OK Go. He has since released a couple of solo effort under the SDR name and under his own personal label. It wouldn't be until "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" that Andy would appear on an OK Go album release, five years after "Oh No".

"Do What You Want" was actually released on a promotional EP (with "Invincible" and a Cure cover, "The Lovecats") three months before the release of "Oh No" though it became the album's second single in April of the following year. Although it didn't chart in the U.S., the song was popular enough to warrant several videos, the most popular of which may have been the wallpaper version in which several people dressed in wallpaper-designed body suits performed different activities. It was one of the few videos of theirs not to be done in the single-take style that made them popular online.

"Get Over It", off of the band's self-titled debut album, also hit number 20 on Hot Modern Rock Tracks. "Don't Ask Me" was also released as a single but failed to chart anywhere. Too bad, I like that song better.

"Let It Rain" was never released as a single from "Oh No", but positioned in the middle of the disc it provided a brief, downbeat interlude between otherwise quicker songs-- it was followed immediately by the more festive "Crash the Party". Although the song was a part of the band's setlist in the early days it was removed from live shows upon the release of their third album.

"Here It Goes Again", perhaps OK Go's trademark song, found fame as a viral video after the band performed a choreographed routine directed by Kulash's sister, Trish Sie. The Grammy Award winner for Best Short Form Music Video in 2007, it catapulted the band into the public eye and set a standard for the group's later videos. Many of their videos from their follow-up album, "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky", would be done in one continuous take. This one took over a dozen to get right. "Here It Goes Again" reached number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100, their highest rank to date. It was the fifth and final single off "Oh No".

The first song on the album to not be energetic, "Oh Lately It's So Quiet" is a song about a defunct relationship. Unlike some of the other singles released from "Oh No", this one did not receive the music video treatment, instead being used solely as a promotional release in North America. It failed to chart and ultimately got dropped from the band's live setlists in later years. It did appear on their first live release (online only, "Live from the Fillmore - New York at Irving Plaza").

"180/365", released in mid-2011, was named because the band performed one hundred and eighty shows in a single year, recording each live event and selecting the best takes of each song (each from a different venue) to include on the disc. While much of "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" was used (it being a newer album), four "Oh No" singles were included. The setlist began with "Do What You Want" and later included "A Million Ways", "Invincible", and the classic "Here It Goes Again". Three songs were also included from the band's eponymous debut album; the rest were from later in their discography. "It's a Disaster", while an upbeat song, was never a single and was not included in the setlist.

Fans have tried to analyze the reasons as to why "9027 km" was added; it was later determined that this was the exact distance between Los Angeles, California, the band's main base of operations, to the city of Malmö, Sweden, where the band recorded their album. Their next album, "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky", was recorded in New York.
