The Montreal Canadiens is a charter member of the National Hockey League. Their first season was in 1917. In their first season they made it to the NHL Finals but lost, then won it all in their second season. The team's first two Stanley Cup wins came in 1930 and 1931. From 1956-1960, they would win five consecutive Stanley Cups, then another four consecutive from 1976-1979.
